GRRR-ATE

Today was great. It started off great and ended great. Just great.

I woke up, took a nice hot shower, got ready for school, got on the bus, and went to school. That was all pretty normal.

I got to school and Dinah and I went to the cafeteria to play spit like we do every morning. We had just started when Chelsea came over and told us that Alex was going to go swimming in the creek. I guess this doesn’t sound that exciting, but the creek is offically the dirtiest one ever. Plus it was kind cold out (50s). So we stopped playing and Dinah, Chelsea, Michaela, Debbie, Michelle, Mac, Jesse, Brian, Drew, Alex, and I walked down to hall to the creek. We were a pretty big group and you could see kids whispering to each other on the sides of the hallway. It was like a scene from a movie. We were silently walking forward as our group got larger and larger as more people joined. But by the time we got to the creek a few teachers had caught on (who wouldn’t notice a huge crowd of people?) and told us to leave. So we did… to the other side of the creek. This time without the stupid freshmen that we picked up on the way. Alex was only doing it because he was getting $20. He made us girls stay inside and watch from the door. He almost got in but stopped to take his shirt off. Then he just stood there for a bit, until Jesse pushed him. He wasn’t able to swim in the creek because it was too shallow but he did a few push-ups instead. And that was the beginning of my great day.

Spanish: Talked about non-Spanish stuff mostly. I actually can’t remember what we did.
Health: We took a test. The test. I got 48/50 which obviously means I get my certification.
Social Studies: Same as everyday, just not as boring somehow.
Science: We discussed bones. And then we talked about all the bones we’ve broken. I haven’t broken any.
Math: Meh, took notes.
PE: Last day of the swimming unit! I didn’t get my hair wet at all! Dinah and I played basketball and hopped around.
English: Watched a part of A Tale of Two Cities. I love movie days.

I had BYT afterschool. Katie and I walked to the room but there was a sign that said we were in the cafeteria. So we went there and we saw the mural. It’s started, but not finished yet. We worked on it today. It’s kind of crappy looking but I plan on bringing all my sharpies next week to fix/touch it up a bit. It’s hard to do the details with huge paintbrushes. We used way to much black so we painted over some of it. I’ll bring my camera next week and take a picture of it.

Katie and I went to Rocky Mountain afterwards with my mom and got pizza. Then we picked up Liz from practice at FRES.

I did homework, watched CSI, started a new template (for a contest on Primp My Blog), and ate some Easter candy.

Title Shmitle

I woke up on time today. I was pretty happy that I did too. But when my dad came downstairs he asked me why I was up, which confused me. Then he reminded me that today is day 6 and my mom was going to drive me to school at 8:30am. Ironic, ain’t it?

School school school. Classes weren’t exciting. Katie and I went out to lunch at Rocky Mountain. Then we went to Rite Aid. We planned on buying the usual stuff (gum, etc.). But then I saw something while picking out which bouncy ball I felt was the best. I saw a pair of walkie-talkies. I’ll take a picture of them tomorrow, but I’ll tell you, they look awesome. They are modeled like cell phones—cell phones from the 90s. I just had to buy them. So I did. We also bought the 9v batteries that they needed. We planned on walking back to school on opposite sides of the street so we could chat on them. So we got outside and opened them up. Katie flipped it over and saw these horrible words: unscrew backing to place/replace batteries. How could they do that to us?! So we mourned over it for a few minutes and walked towards school. At the intersection some boys in a car were being obnoxious and saying stuff loudly, if you know what I mean. We just crossed the street after Katie yelled something else. Then they said the one thing that’ll set any one off: “Sure, that’s it, just walk away!” After this comment Katie whipped around and chucked her bag of dainty mints that she just bought at their window. It hit it and fell to the ground under their car. We continued walking as one of them opened the door, grabbed the dainty mints, and proceeded to eat them with the cars behind them honking for them to go (the light had turned green by then). Sigh, boys.

So Katie and I were all upset about not being able to unscrew the backings. So we asked some people if they had a screwdriver, knowing the answer was no.

Katie: Hey Berg, do you have a screwdriver?
Mr. Berger: No, put those away now.
Lanni: Hey Mickety K, do you have a screwdriver?
Michaela: No.
Lanni: What about you Kayla?
Kayla: Uh, no.
Lanni: Bailey, do you have a screwdriver?
Bailey: *rummages around in purse*
Lanni: Bailey?
Bailey: *hands me a screwdriver*
Katie: YES!

They walkie-talkies are possibly the worst quality ever, but they work! Katie and I used them on the bus, she sat in the back, I sat in the front. We used cool radio lingo like “Do you copy” and “Over and out”.

Katie came over afterschool. We watched TV and then went outside. We played badminton and a bit of tennis. We got tired after awhile and laid on the driveway looking at clouds, which inspired us to switch the music to Mr. Blue Sky. Then my mom opened the garage door (which I didn’t hear) and started the car up. I turned around and saw the headlights and freaked out. Ha ha. So I got up and then we started to chalk. I drew Mr. Blue Sky (a cloud with a face and legs) and Katie drew some other stuff. I attached a piece of chalk to the back of my scooter with tape and made cool shapes. Later we did other stuff (I’m running out of time) and Katie went home, I did my homework, going to bed now.

Just some more soup in my eye.

Got up late again. Slept through the alarm. Went to school. Took a few tests (Spanish: good; Science: meh) and stuff. Stayed after a few minutes with my English teacher to discuss my essay and missed the bus. My mom picked me up and we went to Athletic Outlet to get something for Liz. I bought a lime green t-shirt. We went home, I did my homework. Then we (being myself, Liz, and my mom) went to Curls’ graduation party. We left at 8pm though because the drinking games were getting pretty intense. The party was okay, nothing really special. Now I’m going to watch House and tape Scrubs. Why are all the good shows on at the same time?

This one’s for you

I got up late today. I set my clock for 5:25am but I guess I didn’t hear it/ it didn’t go off. So I got up at 6:35am. Meh, I was still tired though. Spanish was okay, as was health. I forgot my first assignment of the year in social studies—I left it in the printer. I’m dealing though. Science was kinda cool, we reviewed for the test tomorrow.

Miss Mapes: So what comes to mind when you hear the word “mutations”?
Andy & Jeff: X-MEN!

I guess it’s not that funny, but they were sitting on opposite sides of the room and they said it at the exact same time. Shmeh. The rest of school was okay too, but I had a math lab (blah). I got to leave at 1:45pm because I didn’t have an 8th period class so my mom picked me up. We got subs from Dibella’s (math lab=no lunch) and ate them at home while watching Malcolm in the Middle, which I taped last night. Then I began on my dreaded English essay that I’ve been putting off. I finished at 8pm. Yeah, that’s 4 hours of nothing but essay. And after that I did my social studies DBQ, which I finished at 9pm. DBQ’s are easy once you do the scaffold questions. Then I ate dinner (a hot pocket) and watched Las Vegas. Then I did 2 math toolkits. I just finished. Now I’m writing on my blog. Pretty exciting day, eh? I hate school.

My Movies

I finally finished my first (sort of) real movie ever! The quality is crap but I’m proud that I was able to put together anything at all. I had to combine 3 parts together and they wouldn’t import. I managed to import most of the 3 parts, but I missed the ends to a few so I had to cut parts out of the song. It’s still cool though. Making movies is fun. I also threw in one I made outside with my sister this afternoon.

TGIF

I love Good Friday. We had no school! I didn’t do much. Liz and I went to see a movie at 4:15pm. We saw Miss Congeniality 2, which wasn’t that bad. I thought it would be worse. Later Kate came over. We made a movie with the digital camera. It only takes 30 second clips. We tried to do it in the office but there wasn’t enough light. So we did it in the kitchen. I tried editing it but it wouldn’t import into iMovie. I’ll ask my dad about it tomorrow.

Loco taco.

School = SAME AS EVERY FREAKING DAY
Katie and I went out for lunch. On the way to Rocky Mountain we sang “Happy Side”. JP beeped his horn at us and told us that there was no BYT today. So we went in Rocky Mountain and ordered our slices. We got in line to pay so I got out my wallet—

Lanni: Damn, all I have is Canadian money! Hold my wallet Katie, I’ve got to go to the bank! *grabs ATM card and runs out the door*
Katie: *does the shifty eyes as people look at her wondering what’s wrong*
Lanni: Excuse me sir, but may I budge you? I was in Rocky Mountain and all I had was Canadian money.
Person: Uh, okay. I’m not in a hurry.
Lanni: Thanks. *takes out money and runs back to Rocky Mountain*
Katie: Did you get it?
Lanni: Yeah. darn canada.

And then I knocked into Katie, spilling pop on her jacket. I just wasn’t having a good day. After lunch we had PE, which meant swimming. It wasn’t that bad, we did breaststroke (which is my worst stroke). My hair got kind of wet, but it didn’t turn me green like before.

Katie came over afterschool. We watched TV and stuff. Then we got bored so we wrote Jordan (a girl on my street that Katie is friend’s with) a note on a card and put it in a bag with a pair of green sunglasses. Then we walked to her house and put it in the door. Katie rang to doorbell and we ran home. No one answered. So we casually walked back and knocked. We waited there, planning on asking Jordan if she wanted to come out and play. She opened the door and saw the bag. She said, “What’s this?” Katie said, “Uhh… run!” and we ran home again. Poor Jordan, she’s probably very confused. So then we played catch for a bit. Allison and the dogs came around. At the same time a young woman and her toddler came around too. The kid wanted to pet the dogs. But the dogs are very loud and rowdy. Allison managed to get them calm(ish) and the kid pet them. Katie and I walked back into the house, but then we heard a horrible scream. Mickey bit the kid! The kid was yelling so loud and won’t stop for at least 5 minutes. Allison kept trying to go over to the mom and kid and say something but the mom kept backing up. Allison was trying to explain that they never do things like that and kept coming closer. Finally she just left. I was scared. I walk those dogs. What happens when one of them bites me?

« Rewind

[rewritten for clarity]

Today I went to school. As always. I handed in a note to leave early for a doctor’s appointment. Then I went to Spanish, health (first aid for an unconscious choking infant), science lab (a state-required lab involving a made up plant called Botana curos, which provides a cure for cancer), and math. Then I went to see PR (my counselor) to do my schedule. I had to wait awhile for her to be free, so I chatted with a secretary. She asked me if I was a girl scout because I was wearing my Pinewood shirt. I said sort of. Then I explained to her about my mom and stuff. The sectretary was a girl scout and went there “back in the day”. She asked me if I liked swimming across the lake. So I explained to her that it was illegal to swim in the lake now and that we have a pool instead. She agreed with me, it’s lame. I told her about some other new things too. But then PR was done so I went in. I agreed with my teacher’s recommendations. But PR told me that AP American is really difficult and asked if I was up for it. I said that I wasn’t sure now that she said it. But when I told her I had Jepson, she said I should be proud I got recommended because she’s tough. Yeah right. She told me she’d set up a meeting with the teacher so I can see if I like it or not. Meh. Later I went to chorus and afterwards Katie and I put our pictures from Toronto up on “the wall”, a wall full of photos from past trips. I got to be late for English because of it too, score! And then I got to leave English early for the doctor’s appointment. The appointment wasn’t that bad. I managed to do all of my science and Spanish homework while I waited. I learned that I have 20/20 vision, I’m 5′ 8″ (my goal height for life), and that I’m fat (like I didn’t already know that). The invasive personal questions were pretty mild this time. Later my mom took me home and I did more homework. At 6:30pm my family and I went to Liz’s science fair. I saw some people I know: Abby’s family (minus Abby), Mrs. O’Brian, Jasmine, Mr. Chi, Mr. Colazzi, Mr. Thomas, Coach Bellwood. Ha, Coach. So I was walking outside when I saw him:

Coach: Hey Alanna!
Lanni: Hey Coach.
Coach: You’re on my team this season.
Lanni: Yay!
Coach: It’s going to be really cool this year. We got bright pink shirts and our team name’s the Dream Team.
Lanni: Yeah! *puts hand up for high five*
Coach: *high fives me*

So after the high five we went home. I finished all of my homework (I had 3 chapter outlines to do for global because I put them off so long) and went to bed.

What an idiot.

Got the pictures developed. But I was to busy to post anything on the
trip today because I didn’t get home until about 6:30pm. So expect
some more tomorrow.

Today I came in late because I thought I didn’t have a first
period. I totally forgot about seminar—we were supposed to meet
with our counselors and choose next year’s classes. So I ran to Mrs.
R’s office and explained to her what happened. She was totally okay
with it and we set up an appointment for tomorrow. So now I have a
choir lesson at the beginning of 6th and the meeting for the second
half. Grr, no lunch. At least I don’t have a detention.

I bought some mini Sharpies today, the ones Liz has. They are so cool.
I also bought a new stapler. My mom let me drive around the Tops plaza
(and this morning around the block) and I did pretty well, although I
almost hit a car that totally came out of nowhere—”Pull in there
Alanna!”, “Okay Mom!” I’ll never do that again.

Radio annoucer: Now on 89.9 The Buzz is request hour live! Hey!
Caller: Hi.
Radio annoucer: What song would you like to hear?
Caller: Queen.
Radio annoucer: That’s not a song. What s…
Caller: Zepplin?
Radio annoucer: Oh nevermind. What Queen song would you like to hear?
Caller: Uh, Bohamian Rhapsody.
Radio annoucer: Bohemian Rhapsody?
Caller: Sure.
Mom: What an idiot.
Lanni: Mom, I think that’s Anton Ninkov.
Mom: How do you know?
Lanni: Well, and I quote, “Hey Anton, I’m taking requests, what
do you want to hear off my iPod?” in which he responds, “Queen. No,
Zepplin. Wait, yeah, Queen. Do you have Bohamian Rhapsody?”

Swimming tomorrow, wish me luck!
