back so soon you say? yes, it’s wednesday and i’m home. the party was awesome, but for other reasons it had to be cut a bit short. i guess i’ll start from the beginning…

on monday we didn’t actually get to the camp site until 5 hours after we came, which might actually be a record. we set up the tents and the mini fridge (!). mom thought it would be cheaper to rent a mini fridge than to buy a ton of ice. hmm? but okay, the first day was fine. we went into the woods to find some fire wood and ended up going on a hike that led us quite far from the camp. on the way we ate the berries, which has become our slogan. after we wandered back (after enlisting in the help of an eldery couple with a large poodle) we played a few hands of spoons. the last hand was the best, for we used forks during that one. liz has a nice stab mark on her hand. he he he.

on tuesday we got up late at noon(ish). later we went swimming. it was awesome. it’s been awhile since i’ve swam in a real lake (pinewood’s is technically a pond) and i loved the waves. afterwards kate and stabby buried me in the sand. oh yes, i gave abby the name stabby. isn’t that great? ah, i laugh much at that name. but in other news… curls and my dad stopped by later that day with an ice cream cake. curls gave me two cd’s (a catch 22 and a presidents). my father informed us that it was supposed to rain 5 freaking inches during the night and recommended that we go home. we decided we’d stick it out. which was a horrible idea now that i look back on it…

after my dad left it started to rain. then it poured. then i noticed that our tent door was open. then we decided we ought to go to bed. we free-style rapped for awhile. then i sat there awake for 5 hours as the rain poured down on the tent VERY LOUDLY. everyone else was able to sleep somehow. at 2:32am kate rolled over and pressed the button on my watch that makes it flash. so i said, “you like that, don’t you?” which woke stabby up. so we sat there talking until they fell asleep again. the general consensus though was that at 5 we’d get up and go to the restroom ’cause we all had to pee. i obviously didn’t keep track of the time because at 5:31am my mom yelled from her tent, “okay, it’s time to go home.” by then we were already soaked from the leaks that sprung in the roof and the bottom. we got up and got outside. it was still pouring. and dark. very dark. we packed up the entired campsite (and by packed, i mean shoved everything in the car) in 30 minutes. that’s quite an accomplishment. i mean, packing in the dark is hard enough, but add pouring rain to that and you’ve got yourself quite a feat. we couldn’t fit the tents in the back, so they ended up on our laps as we sat there soaked and shivering. we got home, changed, and collaspsed in the waterbed. after sleeping for 8 hours, we finally got up, ate breakfast, and began our day.

that, my friends, is a party for the record books.

awesomeness birthday camping family friends weather

move out (of my way)

today liz and i found out about ichat av and the cool ability to talk to each other over the internet in real time. how cool is that? and why did no one tell me this before? anyways, i was trying to convince liz to accept my $42 and go help my mom pack up don’s house (he’s a packrat, and he’s moving). she refused. so we decided we’d both go, with a catch. we explained to my mom that we’d both go, if she’d take us to the movies afterwards. she agreed. i got a bunch of cool crap from don’s house (a chair, a vintage umbrella, some magnets, a few records, another stop sign, and more), so it wasn’t that bad. the lack of air conditioning sucked, but you know old people. later we went to see the 40 year old virgin and almost missed it because it was rated R and we we had to wait for my mom to go home so we could call her and tell her to come back.

in other news, my party is tomorrow and i haven’t packed anything. i have to get up at 9. ugh. goodnight world.

here’s to friends

my birthday party is going to be monday-thursday. really all i have planned is:

day 1: setting up camp.
day 2: swimming, lookin’ around, regular campy stuff.
day 3: bowling, eating pizza, shopping (?).
day 4: packing and going home.

believe me, it’s much more fun than it sounds. kate and abby are coming. chels can’t come. plus liz will be there. hopefully curls will be able to stop by, but she can’t stay, she has a real job now (!). the end.

what nerds

kate came over today. we played settlers of catan. i won. i got a crown. later we played outside.

kate: hey lan, want to play settlers of catan in that fort in your backyard?
lanni: no! a cat died in there!
kate: oh.

later we did a science experiment. we took those capsules that have foam animals in them and put them in a bunch of different liquids. long story short, gaterade works the best, olive oil works the worst.

my schedule

i got my schedule today. i’ve got the following things to say about it:

  • it sucks
  • i have three (!) frees on the odd days, and zero (!) frees on the even days
  • mr. porta is awesome
  • mr. martz must be new, ’cause i’ve never heard of him
  • etc.

kate has absolutely no classes or frees with me. i’m sad.

This is my favorite custom yet. I did it for a nice lady named Maddie. It’s definitely been an adventure with this template. I started off a month ago. I made a mockup modeling a site that Maddie admired. The owner didn’t like that very much, so I had to start all over. I came up with this. I like it a lot. It was a hard template to code, but I’m proud of it. I really enjoyed making this template. My favorite parts are the blue stripes and the pink polka dots. And my new favorite font, CAC Pinafore. Love it. Send me your template requests soon guys while I’m still in a good mood!

forsooth and anon!

back from camp yo.

why is that whenever I actually want to pop out the lenses of some sunglasses, they won’t come out?

p.s. i’m not using caps anymore, it makes me think of school (and we can’t have that).

Red

Today was my mom’s birthday (Happy Birthday Mom!), so I spent most of the day making a card. It wouldn’t have taken so long if my cousin Steve stopped IMing me, even as I explained that I wasn’t having a garage sale and no, he couldn’t have any beanie babies.

I’m going to camp tomorrow for the weekend, so see you Sunday!

My darling Hoover

IM001674.JPG
Hoover doesn’t get outside much and he wasn’t very happy. I couldn’t get him to stay still and this is the best picture I was able to get.
Uploaded 15 Aug ‘05, 11.50pm PST by tommasz.

The other day when Kate was over we played outside with Hoover. He hardly ever gets the chance to go out and he was very excited. My dad came out and took pictures of him. This is the only one that Hoover was actually still in. He’s crazy. Yet adorable.
