happy new year!

the cookie!
i believe this picture of my mother holding the rabbit cookie i decorated, which has green pants on, about sums up my entire year.

and in other news, i not only gave blood today, but i also: ate some a tasty chicken quesidilla taco bell, visited a camera store staffed by an EXTREMELY nerdy guy (now i’m assuming you will be storing your telephotic lens in the compact configuration, correct?), and explored the outside of the air force plant 51 (photos by my dad) which my father explained was contaminated. mmmmm, mintation.

i’m amazing

badgera fairly boring day. i actually woke up at a reasonable hour and did a bit of homework. and i also i suprised myself much by doing chores that i wasn’t asked to do. i actually brought my laundry down to the basement, washed my dirty clothes, and brought up my clean laundry and folded it. amazing, i know. and then i did something even more amazing: i emptied the dishwasher! will wonders never cease?! ummm, and tomorrow i also have to wake up early. i have an appointment to give blood at 10am. i can’t exactly remember why i signed up for an appointment that early. hmm, i’m fairly sure i had a reason. but maybe i didn’t.

In the year 2006 I resolve to:
Poke a badger with a spoon.

i heart stevie

i saw cheaper by the dozen 2 with liz and stevie today. it was actually pretty funny, i liked it. steve martin is usually hilarious. after the movie we had lunch at taco bell, and then went back to my house. we played a good game of super scrabble (stevie got bored so we didn’t finish). later steve kept hacking up a lung, and then i noticed his face was broken out in hives. so we took him outside and called his dad to come get him. he’s allergic to hoover. his eye swelled up. poor stevie!

scrabble

marta came over today and after mentioning that no one will ever play super scrabble with me, we played a really long game. i won, with 373. martz had 317, and liz had 209. i love that game. check out this link to a page chocked full of sweet scrabble words.

i suck

well, the shooting is cancelled (hopefully just temporarily). the charger my teacher gave me doesn’t work, so the battery is dead. a new battery is $50, and a charger is $30, so i’m screwed. if you have any ideas, please, let me know.

[update:] my dad took a look at the camcorder and discovered that the plug the charger goes into is busted. so i can’t even get a charger, so i really just need an already charged battery. so, uh, if you live nearby and have a sony p-series lithium battery, can i borrow it : ?

chicken jane

liz and i saw fun with dick and jane today, and i have to say, it was pretty funny overall. it takes place during the enron-era (dick loses his job at a big global company, which obviously goes under), and the best joke is the very last line when his neighbor boasts he got a job at a new energy distribution called enron.

we’re shooting “extreme ironing” tomrrow! at 11am, believe it or not. so i should probably go to bed before 1, eh? it’s going to be sweet.

burning post

we decorated the tree today, finally. it looks pretty sweet, i have to admit. very shiny. and lighty-upy.

did i tell you my mom gave me my christmas present early? at first she was like, no christmas presents from my parents this year because drivers ed is super expensive (like 3 christmases combined), but she said she gave in and got me one gift… a teenage mutant ninja turtle watch! and it makes noises! but the battery somehow died already and doesn’t at the moment, but it will when i replace it. awesome, i know : )

present for you

i bought christmas presents for my friends today, and since i’m giving them to them tomorrow morning, i suppose it won’t hurt to tell you what i got. for kate, some new walkie-talkies and some chalk shaped like vegetables. for dinah, a light up sword, for chels some of those sponge capsules, and for both stabby and mikkety-k, plastic ponies. and they got chocolate. and everyone got bracelets (including less important friends). i even made one for kelly, my ride from school every day 1, 3, and 5.

my ipod broke today. well, not exactly broke, but it was acting stupid. this has happened a few times actually. it keeps freezing on “ok to disconnect.” it’s done this a few times before and all i can do is wait for the battery to die completely and then recharge it. i have to say, the nano isn’t all it’s chalked up to be. debbie got a nano and the same thing happened, but she could return hers. then she got a different kind. smart girl.

extreme, yo

today in chem we had “dem-o-rama,” which is pretty much a lab, but without the actual lab. porta just did a bunch of demos for us and we balanced the equations. i was pysched for today, since he told us we’d be doing the best demo of the entire year. and it was. here’s how it went: porta tells us it’s time for the “mephane bubbles” demo, the demo supremo. since my table (which i share with allison, dasiy, and larissa) is in the middle of the room, he put this odd contraption on our table and proceeded to hook up a tube to the methane gas, but a bunch of green liquid got everywhere. it turns out it was just soap (and hydroglycerin), luckily. so then he turned on the gas, and this tub of soap and hydroglycerin started bubbling. then mr. porta stuck his hand in it, covered his hands in bubbles, and LIT IT ON FIRE. his whole hand was engulfed in flames for a few seconds, and then it went out. it was so freaking sweet! so when he asked for volunteers, i so called going first. so i grabbed me some bubbles, stuck my hand into the air, and porta light it on fire. it just got hot, it didn’t hurt at all! although i am currently missing some knuckle hair… in short, it was indeed the best lab ever.

i finally picked my topic for my 2-4 minute project in video. EXTREME IRONING (check out the wikipedia link to exteme ironing for details). stabby, chels, and i were in barnes and noble looking at calanders when we saw an extreme ironing one, and at that moment i decided that just maybe extreme ironing would be my sport. so my friends and i are going to give it a whirl, on camera. but my mom said no roofs. since it’s winter. and she thinks we’ll die. so, if you have any good ideas for extreme ironing locations, preferably that you know i have access to (hey you brightonians!), let me know!
