darn liz

darn liz’s darn soap made me break out in darn hives today. luckily they didn’t itch or anything. this is the second allergic reaction i’ve ever had to anything, the first was to liz’s shampoo a few years ago. darn liz.

i’m working on the new layout, expect it to be up within the week.

rantings the site

a long-winded post

since liz and my mother were at a regatta in syracuse, and my dad was at a karate thing, i had nothing to do to day. luckily, curls called and woke me up at 1:30pm and we decided to see a movie. we settled on american dreamz, which was surprisingly quite good. it was a satire with just the right amount of subtle humor, which i always like. i’d recommend it.

afterwards we went to a few stores. party city. mr. dollar. toys r us. 2 furniture stores. we only bought things at mr. dollar, he he. we’re cheap, it’s official.

at 6 i went over to kate’s and we played settlers and had some dinner at zebbs. it was quite random actually, we were walking past after visiting the dollar general and we were like, hmm, it’s 8, should we grab something to eat? and decided to. ’twas nice. later we went back to her house and watched some tv.

lori dropped me off at my house at 11:30pm and i noticed right away that my lights in my dad’s car were on, which is bad since his battery is always dying. so i opended the garage and went to open the door into my house, but it was locked. i went out front to look in in the window, but it was dark. all the windows of my house were dark. even liz’s. so i thought maybe they somehow weren’t home, but that didn’t really add up since the deadbolt was locked and both cars were there. no one in my house ever goes to bed before 1am on the weekend, so this was very weird. i’d have slept at kate’s, but i had to turn my dad’s lights off. so i picked up the phone in the garage (no cellphone for me) and called the operator and asked if she could call the line back, and she did. when the ringing stopped i picked up the phone and told my mom that i was locked outside. both she and the operator seemed confused. perhaps even confuzzled.

friends movies

should i?

i’m thinking i want to redesign. i came up with the above mockup, so tell me if you like it or not.

today was day 5 so i slept until 8:45. which was nice. and i didn’t do much work in school, crafty stuff in spanish, new unit intro in chem, discussion in english, and a worksheet in math. ’twas nice. especially since i did all my homework between classes. which is good because i have lots to do this weekend (not really, i just have to find a skirt for prom with kate, go to the movies with curls, and vacuum my room).

lmao @ u

did anyone else watch csi tonight? i think it was awesome+ and greg finally had the right amount of screen time: tons. in other words, a perfect episode. the office was super too. i really wish my two favorite shows weren’t on at the same time, it’s getting annoying having to record the office and watch it in the basement after csi.

it was take your child to work day, mrs. palmer brought parker: “when i’m old, i, uh,i want to, um, be a teacher… uh… and everyone would wear halloween costumes every day!”

boring regular day

having 3 classes is always nice. especially since we didn’t take notes in american. that was very nice. and i didn’t mind having 4 frees to do my homework during, very much so because now i don’t have any american/math/english homework for the rest of the week, since i did it all today.

i made dinner again, but i’m fairly sure i overcooked the spagetti. shmeh. my mom is going to be home tomorrow so i luckily won’t have to cook for a few days (hopefully).

awesomeness random

shmeh

let me just say, it was not nice to be back in school. although i did finally get a good grade on a english essay. good enough to be read aloud—ugh. but luckily i got home early via kelly and i didn’t have much homework, so i caught up on all the tv i missed while i was away (thank god for my vcr). and prison break was on tonight, which totally made my day. *squee* prison break! *squee* wentworth miller! *squee* et cetera.

oh, and you guys have heard about that csi photo on the web, right? it’s here if you haven’t seen it. well, after studying it for awhile, here’s what i’ve found:

  • grissom has a band-aid on his hand. did he get in a fight?
  • nick seems to be forming the number 40 with his hands.
  • brass isn’t there. or he’s the dead guy. i think he gets killed off.
  • cathrine looks like she might have a black eye.
  • is there a face in the window of that door in the back?

and that is it. tell me if you’ve noticed anything else.

long island/nyc ‘06

i’m back! the trip was pretty awesome. i took a bazillion photos and wrote a really long post for you. so here’s a teaser image, and keep on readin’.

the father
yes, that’s my father in a silly hat.

WEDNESDAY:
we left in the morning and got to long island around dinnertime. we made good time because of the wonderful hov lane they have. i wish we had one of those up here, especially during rush hour.

g-rent's new apartment

my grandparent’s have a nice new apartment (they moved from the poconos a few months ago) in middle island. it’s quite spacious actually. we talked for awhile and at 9 we left, as my grandpa goes to bed at 9 (hmm, sounds like my dad).

ruby tuesday, duh

we went to ruby tuesday for dinner, since it was the only real resturant we could find around. it was good.

we spent the rest of the night watching cable television. mmm, cable. that show mythbusters is pretty cool. my dad really liked it.

THURSDAY:
the next day we went to the local outlet mall. it was freakin’ ginormus. it was so spread out we had to drive to the other section. we bought a lot of stuff, it was nice. lots of new earrings and such.

i like this photo

later we went back to my grandparent’s apartment. liz and i wandered around the complex and took photos of stuff, because we were bored. when we came back we went out to dinner—at ruby tuesday. turns out it really is the only real resturant close by. i got the same meal, since it was so good.

later liz and i played uno until a bazillion family members i didn’t know i had came over. after a few hours of reminising by the adults and uno playing by liz and i, we went back to the hotel. we watched some tv and went to bed.

FRIDAY:
the next morning we packed up and hit the road. we got to new york city around lunchtime. we found our hotel and checked in. the mananger yelled to us, “room only for 2!” but we didn’t care. that is, until we opened the door. the room was literally 9 by 8. two twin beds and a really tiny tv. so it was martz’s place for liz and i.

marta was still working, so we decided to go on our own to the tenement museum. there was a 2 hour wait, so we wandered around to find somewhere to eat lunch. we found a mexican place and when we walked in we noticed that we had eaten there before. it was kind of weird.

when we took the tour of the museum, there were 3 really annoying small children with us that wasted time asking dumb questions and threatening to touch things. the tour was cool though, it was pretty amazing. i can’t imagine living in a tenement, it really makes you think.

everyone ('cept me of course)

later we met up with marta and her boyfriend matt. we went to dinner at a cool italian resturant. and then we walked around the city for a few hours. we stumbled upon a huge bookstore and i finally was able to buy the nimrod flipout, which i’ve been meaning to purchase for a few weeks. after we left it was like 11 so we went back to marta’s place (my parents to the hotel). we played a few rounds of rummikub and went to bed.

SATURDAY:
we got got up around 12 and my parents came over and we packed up the car.

i like this photo

we drove to queens (we were in manhattan, if i didn’t mention that before) and visited a place called the flux box. it was like a giant musicbox that you could walk through. it was made by a bunch of artists that were in need of money. it was the coolest art exhibit ever, i have to say. all the music was made by real instruments and such all connected to a computer by wires. there were wires freakin’ everywhere. like i said, it was really friggin’ cool.

an antique fire truck

we still had time before we had to leave, so we went back to manhattan and visited the fire museum, which was full of really old fire trucks and the like. they were much older than my dad’s fire department’s antique fire trucks, so old that many were powered by horses or steam. there was also a 9/11 memorial, which was very sad. i cried when it happened, and i cried then.

after eating dinner at a deli with huge subs, we said goodbye to marta and got on the road. we got back to rochester at 12ish and after reading my flist, i went to bed. hurray.

the rest of the photos are here.

hurtz

i don’t think i’ve ever been this confused in my life. in my efforts to establish an archiving system, i have severly injured my brain i’m afraid. if anyone has set up archives on their textpattern weblog, please let me know asap.

in other news, i finally gave blood today. i guess taking those iron pills really did help, since they didn’t even have to spin it. which was nice. something went wrong when i was donating though and some blood leaked under my skin, which means i’m going to have a nice bruise tomorrow. oh well. i saved 3 lives. it’s worth it.

i got my hair bleached and dyed today. still pink i’m afraid. i’ve just gotten so attached to it.
