prom!

prom, eh? ’twas pretty fun, i have to say. and i’m sure you want to here all about it, yes? well then, continue reading, after you view this spectacular teaser photo first:

heck yes!
kate and i give our prom outfits two thumbs up!

so, let me start from the beginning. kate and her mom picked me up around noon and we drove to park ave so we could go to world hair. unfortunetly, i didn’t know the number, or the cross street, or the phone number. so we spent awhile looking for it. but we eventually found it. before our appointment we walked to get smoothies and such and stopped in parkleigh. when we got back to world hair, it was our turn. i got mary ellen, this makes 4 times in a row. kinda weird. kate got katie, who i’ve had a lot also. i got my hair cut a bit and then styled into a bob. kate got her’s curled, which looked good with her new extensions.

new pink hair

after we got our hair done, we went back to my house to do our makeup. kate spent a really long time on mine, coating it with a bunch of crap. let me just say, it was probably 130x as much as i wanted. so i washed it all off. i couldn’t get all of the black stuff on my eyes off, so i had a smokey-eye thing going on. i also painted my nails neon orange, which was sweet.

at 5 we went back to kate’s and got ready (lori was sure to take plenty of photos).

lan

ray arrived at 5:15, followed shortly by stabby, kayla, allison, and then dinah and bryan (who nicely dented dinah’s car after running it over the curb).

bryan and dinah

the limo came at 6pm and we all piled in.

our limo

our first stop was wegman’s, because kate wanted to buy a camera. then we went to mt. hope to take some group photos because the buildings are old and pretty. our driver, jim, was a good sport and took the photos for us.

we're cool

our next stop was aladdin’s for dinner, which serves mediterranean food. it wasn’t too bad, but the portions were huge, so no on finished. by the time we were done, it was 8 so we headed outside where we found jim standing next to the limo he parallel parked in front of the resturant. let me just say, that takes skill.

sweetness

we got in the limo and directed jim to the science museum, where our prom was. we arrived reasonably at 8:30pm (fashionably late, as most call it) and headed on in. once we were in, i lost kate and dinah for most of the night, because they were with their boyfriends. stabby, allison, and i hung around. it was weird seeing a lot of people dressed up, they look so darn different. everyone seemed to like my outfit, and my hair. some of my teachers were there, i talked to mrs. palmer for awhile, also mr. hiller (”are you having a fun time mr. hiller?” –”no, not at all.”). i also talked to the hot topic starbucks guy (he freakin’ works everywhere!), which was weird because he’s like 20 and i just seem to see him everywhere. he took a picture with me, which was definitely kind of weird.

i liked dancing to the oldies/dancing songs (aka: cha cha slide, cotton-eyed joe, macarena, et cetera). my dance style is pretty extreme (or maybe not) and fit right in with the techno songs (as it often looks like i’m doing the robot, when i am in fact actually dancing). kate and pat started a conga line during a techno song, in which i was third. it ended up with every single person in the room on it. it was pretty freakin’ sweet.

the politics of dancing

we got bored around 11:30pm (after i was told that the dj did not have “shout,” which would have been a blast to dance to) and we left. we went to jay’s 24-hour diner for milkshakes, which were delicious. but we were disappointed that the dumb jukebox played the music so quietly that no one actually heard the song we picked. that sucked.

at jay's diner

and then back to wegman’s because stabby wanted to say hi to her mom. we attempted to rent a movie at blockbuster, but we got there at 1:03am, and were not let in. blah. so we stopped by my house to grab office space and also set off the smoke bombs purchased at a convenience store (you know those things that magicians throw down that make smoke?). afterwards we dropped allison, stabby, and kayla off at allison’s house, and then we went back to kate’s. dinah and bryan drove themselves to allison’s and kate, ray, and i watched office space at kate’s. we all fell asleep after the movie around 3am.

ray and kate again

kate and ray got up before me, but we were all up and eating breakfast by 10am. i got all my stuff together and kate and ray dropped me off at my house. and that concludes my post on prom. hooray.

Sounds awesome. That guy that works everywhere is a magician, I tell ya, lol. Sounds like you had a blast, that would be a blast. Mr. Hiller is funny.

Huzzah to prom!

P.S. You had the coolest outfit of them all. I’d prefer something comfortable aswell. But on my prom, like 5 years away, lol, my mom would make me dress up and stuff. Same with my grad, in 1 year. lol. I’d so wear some fake gangster clothes or something. lol.

it was indeed pretty freaking awesome.

and thanks for the outfit compliment. tell your mom that you’re old enough to decide what the heck you want to wear. it’s like, hey mom, either you let me wear this neon yellow puffy vest to prom or i wear nothing at all, your choice : P

Lanni, as always you are the most individual person in the room. I am glad that your prom went so well. I am just getting around to reading your blogs. This weekend: Xmen 3 or Art School Confidential.
