oh, right

carly and i noted today at work that all we talk about outside of work is, well, work. so today i’ll only mention that.

i really want another piercing on each ear. but my mom says i can’t because it’s cartilage. i’m not sure, it probably is, but still. more people die in automobile-related accidents than any other non-illness causes, but she still lets me drive. actually, my parents make me drive. i understand that cartilage piercings are more dangerous than lobe piercings, but according to many articles that i have just read, they can be just as safe if done correctly and cared for diligently. there is my ear piercing schpiel. i am quite certain that it will not affect my mother’s views, but hey, i tried.

mmmm

i’m looking forward to work tomorrow. work gives me something to do and i always know what has to be done. i like that we have a schedule and that we mostly stick to it.

i just purchased these sunglasses on ebay. to replace the ones that were smashed when i fell. i’m still very sad about that.

all done!

it’s online! this is an amazing moment for me. i don’t think i’ve ever done this much web work in, well, i’ve never done this much. in just 3 days i purchased a domain and hosting, made a logo and other images, coded 13 pages/subpages, wrote my first real php script, had a horrible time finding a good drop-down menu javascript code, set up paypal donations, figured out the tabbing, gathered information, wrote a bio for myself, and much more. i’m pretty happy with the results. if you’re on a peecee, let me know if you see any bugs or such.

today is complaining day

i need to learn better time management skills. i always feel so stressed out on weekends. i’ve got this big project going on. i’ve promised to hang out with not only kate this weekend, but also dinah, and stabby. plus i have to wake up early tomorrow morning to mow the lawn and then i think i’m running errands with my dad. this isn’t really a lot to do, it’s just i feel really crazy when i have to do other things when i could quite possibly be doing something else. i’ve always been that way, which is one of the reasons i don’t like hanging out with people without planning it in advance. it’s also the reason that i always do my homework. i can’t function if i don’t do what i’m supposed to. i think this is the reason i’m very obedient and why i volunteer to do everything.

most of the spoofing of me in the skit at the camp talent show today had something to do with me volunteering to do the stuff no one seems to want to do.

i think i have a brain disease or something.

new project

i’m working on a very important website project right now for two guys that go to my school. they’ve started fdvc and i’m the web designer. i’m actually part of this three-person company. they have high hopes, and i have to admire their guts. they do videography for big events like weddings and such. this is one of the first entire site packages that i’ve done (purchasing hosting, the domain, coding, maintaining, et cetera) and i’m a little nervous. i have a deadline of tuesday, but i’m pretty sure i can make that. i’m having a bit of trouble coding some css tabs, but i think i have almost got it.

little miss sunshine

oh my god. you’ll never believe this. curls and i got tickets to an early screening of little miss sunshine! remember when i said i was so excited to see it on saturday? well curls calls me up yesterday and says to get my shoes on ’cause we’re going. oh wow i can’t even describe how amazing that movie was. it’s in my top 5 movies of all time, let me tell you that. i plan on seeing it when it comes out in theaters, maybe even twice in theaters. and i will purchase the dvd, i will. there are so many parts that were just amazing. i love their vw bus, it’s one the longest running gags in the whole movie, but it’s still funny ’till the very end. watch the trailer, it’s amazing.

awesomeness movies

’cause i’m tired of telling this story

everyone, it seems: geez lan! what happened to your face?!
lan: uh, i don’t want to talk about it.
everyone: tell me! tell me!
lan: nah.
everyone: do it!

lan: oh fine. so i was chasing this kid and i was about to tag him, when he threw the flag to one of his teammates. oh yeah, we were playing capture the flag. so yes, the kid tripped and i couldn’t stop in time, so instead of falling on him and probably severely injuring him, i decided i wouldn’t. so i tried to fall next to him instead, but this just ended up with me landing face-first on the ground. after laying there for a minute, i got up, and felt extremely dizzy. that’s when i tasted the blood. seems my forehead was bleeding a lot. my face was literally covered in blood. the kids did not appear to like this. i woozily managed to pick up the pieces to my broken sunglasses (*sob*), walk to the bathroom, clean off the blood, and take a seat next to jamie to fill out an incident report. those aren’t any fun, let me tell you that. i was band-aided and then given a freeze pop to ice the large bump on my head, for we had run out of ice packs the day before. and that is why my face is looking like it is, and feeling like it is now. now stop talking to me.

no internet = a painful death

well, they’ve discovered my secret at work: i know many camp songs. many many camp songs. this might get ugly.

having no internet was awful yesterday, and it still doesn’t work upstairs. i can’t believe that i survived going to sleep-away camp last summer. i must have been crazy. or maybe i’m just crazy now, who knows.

oh, and don’t forget, small children and lazy college students can not learn the cotton-eyed joe. and that my friends is a scientific fact.

la la la la la

3 movies in 3 days? heck yes! yesterday curls and i went to see my super ex-girlfriend at 11:30pm, which was sooooo cheesy but still enjoyable. i’d rent it, probably. i think liz would like it too. and today we saw stick it at the dollar theater, which was entertaining. i admit, i enjoyed it. definitely would rent it.

the internet was down from when i woke up to when my dad got home today at 9pm. it almost killed me. i had to occupy my time with things like sitting in a chair and reading my mother’s magazines. i surely hope this never happens again.

it’s okay to be average. this is for my mom. and i looked in an almanac—the average height for women in the united states is 5' 4". so yes mother, you are average height. but keep in mind that you are actually 5' 3.75".

last night curls and i went to see strangers with candy at the little, and it was extremely funny. i have never seen the show, as it’s on cable, but i still enjoyed it. i wouldn’t buy it, because i doubt my mother would let me (she wouldn’t let me buy anchorman, which made me very sad), but i would rent it, definitely. so yeah, it was a hilarious movie, the entire theater spent most of the time laughing. especially before the movie when we saw the preview for little miss sunshine. i can’t wait to see that.

after the movie we went to spot coffee and got smoothies, and watched the episode of "kyle xy" that i had taped at 9. that show is curls’ and my newest guilty pleasure. the show is kind of lame, but oddly addicting. it might have something to do with this guy though. *sigh* and i’m pretty sure that i’ll never be able to see a grapefruit now and not crack up.

i'm geniusand my family went away this weekend, and didn’t leave me any dr pepper. the horror. so today i rode my bike to tops and picked up a 12 pack. which proved to be a bit difficult to get home. i forgot to bring extra bungees, and a pack of 3 would have cost me five bucks, so i bought some duct tape and taped it to the back. i attached the seat pack to my water bottle holder, and duct taped the roll of duct tape next to it. it worked out quite nicely. this is why duct tape is my hero. and shows what i’ll do to score some tasty dr pepper.

awhile back i could have sworn i posted about the time i had to buy a gallon of milk and get it home, but i can’t seem to find it. oh well. i did pretty much the same thing, except with packing tape because it was 50% off. hah.

my evaluation when just as i thought. i’m a fine counselor, but i have to be more vocal. they also had to rub it in my face that emily arrived a minute before me today, since everyone knows i’m always the first one in. hah. and i guess no one knew this, but i didn’t interview for this job, becky just gave it to me. my bosses thought it was funny that becky asks, “how’s lanni doing?” all the time, it seems that no one knows we’re pretty tight ; P

did you see that? not just a wink, but a tounge too. oh snap!

and check out the best savage chickens strip yet.
