my first paycheck was delicious

work was fun. it was raining when i rode there, which wasn’t cool. but around noon the sun came out, which was nice. we had a few new kids this week, plus a new junior counselor (i did that back in 8th grade) that seems to enjoy playing the games more than the campers. ha. today was “valentine’s day” and we made valentines for our craft project. i gave mine to freddy (he really liked it) and i got some too. the kids really liked that we were having valentine’s day in july. they’re even more excited for halloween on friday.

so afterwards, when i finished cleaning up some boondoggle, jamie (our director) took me aside and told me that he was going to have a staff meeting tomorrow, addressing counselor behavior (talking, not paying attention, et cetera). and he said i shouldn’t take offense because it doesn’t apply to me and i’m not part of the problem. this makes me glad that i’m doing well, but a little sad that i’m not as social as every one else. i always have that problem when i first get involved in something. that part of my personality really grinds me gears. but who am i kidding, i’m mostly glad.

yeah, so after work i rode home (rainless, luckily), and i find that the wind is really strong as i peddle up the hill over the canal. so strong that i have to peddle downhill. yes, i have to peddle downhill. amazing.

oh, and i thought i’d share this wonderful tidbit of a conversation i just had with curls.

lan: sweet kicks, curls.
curls: yeah, they’re my new black converses! aren’t they awesome?
lan: yes, very nice.
curls: which reminds me, i really need to get a black zip-up hoodie soon. maybe with a band logo or something.
lan: oh, i get it! you’re going through your emo phase!

Yes, when riding a bike you become very sensative to a few things. Wind which you probably never gave much thought to is suprisingly resiliant on a bike. Weather, you’re right in it. Momentum. Anything that causes you to touch your breaks will really start to bother you. Thats why bikers go through lights so often. They can’t stand to lose the momentum. The bike itself. And of cours the #@^%&^%!!! mother %%&#@!!!! cars!! with their ##^!!!!!hole drivers.

Well at least you have the ability to be taken aside and to attend a meeting. I haven’t been taken aside in years and years and would refuse to do so. As far as meeting are concerned, I can’t remember the last one I’ve had. Although I do occasionally have to “meet people” which is still something I could do without. So you’re really not that far gone. But of course you’re still young. Life has yet to grind away at you.

yeah, i agree. i’m really getting annoyed with this one hairpin turn i have to take to get onto the canal path, because i have to stop completely. and today it was raining, so my brakes were all wet and squeaky and i had to start slowing down really early. that sucked.

and you’re right about the meeting thing. i still have time to work these small details out.

i didn’t go through an emo phase, i got lucky : )
all my friends are going through their’s right now (mainly kate and curls, lol), which has been interesting. lol.

i’m beginning to think we have too much in common. perhaps we somehow are two different people, but we share one brain. i betcha that’s what’s going on.

Alright, for the record, the conversation we went through was a little different. And having an emo phase is not such a horrible thing.

for the record, it’s like impossible to remember entire conversations for me. and having an emo phase is not a horrible thing, it’s just a lame thing. nah, just joshing with you! lmao.
