i’m back! i had an excellent weekend full of boating and concert-going. i wrote a really long post, complete with photos for you. so here’s a teaser image that i promised i’d post on my blog. actually, it went more like, “hey liz! liz! take a picture of me in this little tiny lifejacket! yes, i’ll caption it ‘fat guy in a little coat!’ man, i love tommy boy.”

FRIDAY
my last day of work! it was a pretty normal day. my team came in second in the olympics, due to a breakdown during a dance-off, we had a pizza party, and i played too many games of uno to count. after the last kid went home, all the staff went to brighton rec to drop all the equipment off (heather gave me a ride) and said our goodbyes (when i explained that i’ll only hug the occasional small child). i had a good summer, i loved my job. perhaps i’ll get a job during the school year. hmm, where shall i work? i need to find some place that i can either ride my bike to after i get home from school, or some place that i can walk to after school and get a ride home from. well anyways, we left for pinewood around dinner time (i drove, it’s a one hour trip), ate dinner at arby’s after we discovered we forgot to bring the burgers, and got there at 9ish. we luged all our stuff, including a tv, up to white pine, watched welcome to the dollhouse, played dream star, and went to bed.

SATURDAY
we got up leisurely at 10am. we started off the morning by eating some breakfast (after spending a half an hour looking for the milk), watching dogma, and waiting for my mother to wake up. we packed our lunches and headed to boating for the afternoon. after discovering that half of the dock had unattached itself and was floating 20 feet away, we spent a half an hour attempting to put it back together. the story has been chronicled in a series of photographs that i call “dock rescue”, aka the dock scandal.

the dock scandal- part 1the dock scandal- part 2the dock scandal- part 3the dock scandal- part 4the dock scandal- part 5the dock scandal- part 6the dock scandal- part 7

after the dock was fixed, we boated. and we boated. and we fished. and we boated. mary and company came down from west wind eventually and they boated with us.

tippy test time!

liz and i love doing tippy tests, so we decided to do one, with kate too. we can usually get it done in a minute or so, but kate slowed us down a bit. that might be an understatement. it took us about 10 tries to get us all in and back to shore. but it was a blast. kate didn’t really like the seaweed though.

fish kiss

kate did seem to enjoy fishing though. she caught more than anyone else (i caught none, hah), and kissed them all. well, all except one. she kicked that one. it got off the hook when she pulled it out of the water, and it flopped onto the dock. she freaked out and kicked it. she’ll be telling that story for awhile, i can tell.

my mother went to eat dinner at west wind with her staff buddies, leaving kate, liz, and i to make our own dinner and have a dance party. we made burgers (we bought some from cy’s in town after boating) and spaghetti-o’s. after playing girl talk for awhile, we built a fire outside and made nice hot schmoes. later we had said dance party and watched wayne’s world once again. end scene.

SUNDAY
we woke up at 11 again and started packing all our stuff up as we watched anchorman. my mother came around later and helped us clean and stuff. she made us pizzas for lunch (i love my mom) and we were ready to go at 1pm. instead of leaving though, we decided to spend some more time at boating.

mom! help me! i'm stuck! part 1

i managed to have a small adventure in my kayak too. i paddled over to lagoon, for a wanted to see if i could possibly kayak upstream. i got myself beached though, and i couldn’t seem to get back out to open water. so i got out of my kayak, thinking i could just walk to shore. i found myself waist-deep in silt. it was mad scary. i was able to get to this rock island, and i climbed on. i couldn’t get my kayak back to the lake though. so i yelled for my mom, for i was kind of in a pickle. she walked around the lake and explained that i could carry my kayak to the other side of the rock island, because the water was deeper there. i was home free. now listen up kids, you must remember this story next time you want to go in the lagoon. it is off limits for a reason. small children that come up to my waist will probably sink to the infinte beyond if they go in the lagoon.

swimmin' in the lake

because i was covered in silt, i decided that i’d go swimming, so liz, kate, and i all jumped into the lake and swam around awhile until we were to cold to move any more. we got out, got dry, and packed up boating. as i dunked my boat shoes in the lake to get the silt off of them, i managed to knock my new sunglasses into the water. i dropped onto my stomach and grabbed them right before they sunk out of reach, but in the progress i landed on a boat tie-up, bruising my chest, and also scraping my elbow. but it was worth it, those sunglasses cost my eight bucks. after we got all our stuff together, i drove back again (if you were wondering, i’m practicing for my test on wednesday), dropped kate off at her house and headed home.

curls was here when we arrived, reading a sad sad book (she was crying, poor curls). liz and i showered and suited up, and we headed off to the mc lars concert. the openers were crap garage bands (the third was okay though), but mc lars was friggin’ awesome. there was some annoying moshing, but other than that it was a good time. i usually don’t jump at concerts, because it’s annoying, but i found myself doing it anyway, because, well, if i didn’t, i probably would have gotten knocked over or something. man that sentence had a lot of commas. anyways, it was excellent. i bought his new cd, but i left it in curls’ car, so i can’t listen to it yet. but i’m excited.

i had a very good weekend. the rest of the photos are here.

Sounds like a fun weekend! I miss camp so much. I wish I could go back, but I have a real job now. Ha ha.

You got to see MC Lars? I wish I knew he was at Waterstreet, I love that one song he does about Hot Topic. Funny stuff.

Dude, I didn’t cry that much. And if I were to elaborate on the end of that book you would have cried too. Also, I was considering going to see Step Up this weekend. What are your plans?
