the lj reboot

imaclanni

hooray for the_lj_reboot! i first decided that i wanted to use the same colours and theme as my site, imaclanni.com. then it turned into this brilliant (not really) idea that it would be a mixture of my old lj layout and my website layout. then it became a negative mirror image idea, which i stuck with. the blue and pinks switched, and everything is flipped. i thought it would be easy to recreate my old graphics, but that is the part that took the longest. coding it was easier than i expected, all that work on my last reboot introduced me to almost all of the aspects of designing a lj layout. i used opal for this layout again, because it allowed me to use pieces of my old css. the part i liked most about my last layout was that i had all the meta information underneather the userpic on the side of the entry. when i switched my stylesheet (after accidently deleting mine when i tested this new stylesheet), i found that i really didn’t like having the meta data on the bottom, so i’m excited to put this up. um, that’s pretty much it.

stat means now

i’m not dead, no post yesterday because when i got home from work i hopped into bed and forgot to hop out until 6 the next morning. whoops.

so, say hello to cold #3 of the year 2007. yes, i have yet another cold. perhaps it’s the same cold though. i had one in december that lasted through january, and then another towards the middle of january, and i just got another yesterday, right after the cough from my last cold had gone away. so it might perhaps be the same cold. but a month long cold is pretty ridikkulus, isn’t it?

so, i did okay on all my midterms/finals. i got an 89 in econ! since i got 100 on my final research paper and it’s 50% of that grade, that means i got a 78 on my exam, which isn’t too bad considering it’s econ. but that’s not the grade that gets submitted to colleges, so i’m not worried.

1. i need to purchase these office valentines, stat. stat means now!
2. do this, it’s mad scary.

icons: jim pranks

74 The Office US (from miscellaneous episodes)
01-31: images
32-43: quotes
44-46: animated
47-63: recycled, images
63-69: recycled, quotes
69-74: recycled, animated

because we didn’t get a new episode last thursday, i thought i’d make icons from old episodes. but that soon turned out to be a bad idea, because i can never decide on my favourite scenes to make into icons, so i decided to limit myself to jim pranks, hooray! i also added all the icons i had posted before that had something to do with jim pranks.

also, i’m accepting requests for icons (regular, quotes, animated) for any jim pranks that you didn’t see here. i wanted to do more animated ones, but i couldn’t decide, so if you want a specfic prank iconized, just let me know and i’ll do my favourites : )

othermint

curls came over from syracuse today. we went record shopping at record archive (were i saw mr. anderson from franklin—we had an interesting conversation about how lame used record stores are, because they never have what you’re looking for) and lakeshore, the one on park ave. i got a tmbg rarities album called “they got lost,” and i’m pretty excited about it. i also got a potusa album. and at lakeshore they had these tins with their logo on it, which were full of tic-tacs. they all had labels on the top with the flavour, and one was labeled “othermint,” and the cashier assured me that othermint is the best flavour in the universe. i had to buy it (how could i not?). i’m pretty sure it’s spearmint though. what movie is that from, when some guy comes sees a sign that says “best coffee in the world” and they automatically assume it really is?

ETA: it’s elf, thanks stevie : )

touchdown turnaround

i solved my rubik’s cube a few times today. by best time was 5 minutes and 30 seconds (recorded it on my camera), which doesn’t seem to bad to me. i’m trying to memorize the notations, i keep having to peek at my post-it note for the third and fifth steps.

no school today, but i did have work, and that was nice, but nothing to write home about.

oh, and the best office video around.

it’s over!

EXAMS ARE OVER.

pre-calc = bad news
physics = totally awesome

i got a home run during kickball today at work today (we didn’t have enough people to play, so the counselors helped out a bit), which is totally cool because i pretty much suck at all sports. also, we (being i and two small children who happen to be brothers) were able to convince utsav that said children were twins, even though the older one is at least 8 inches taller and has darker hair, and that their last name was michael. considering that the older brother’s name is michael, this was quite hilarious. he believed us for at least two weeks. man, those boys were darn good liars. lol.

i got a few requests for the “yes” scene icons, so i went a little overboard and made a bunch as opposed to the one. plus some pam/angela huggage and some more “i think we broke his brain.” mostly animated icons, because i am having fun making them, and my exam ended at 10:00 today so i’ve been really bored (because of course i’m not going to study for my two exams tomorrow). follow the rules and enjoy.

school stuffz

so yeah, i totally kicked my law and gov exam’s butt. i was the only student to stay for the whole two hours (the last person left a half an hour before me, lol). i think i did pretty good, which i am very happy about. and to make it even better, as i walked outside my econ teacher passed me by and said, “hey alanna, excellent job on the research paper!” so this is also very good news. especially since the paper is 50% of the final grade. hooray : )

i have pre-calculus and physics tomorrow. both mathy, both sucky. which reminds me, i have discovered why i am so bad at econ. it’s because econ isn’t one subject, it’s many subjects combined. it’s social studies (duh), history (laws, economists, etc.), math (multiplier effect, exchange rates, etc.), english (essays, research paper), and sometimes even a bit of science (global warming effects, types of energy, etc.). therefore i suck at econ.

50 cents

UM YES, GOOGLE KNOWS ALL: 42.

so, about that econ test. yeah.

today as i was reading highlights for kids, sitting on the counter at brighton rec. waiting to be picked up (for all the kids were gone by then), my mom and sister walk in with, check this, a microwave (!). how super cool is that? i had mentioned to my mother that i hated dealing with children in the kitchen as we popped (or burned) their popcorn in the broken microwave, and then i explained an idea that tom had, to get a microwave for the after school program in our room. so when she was out craigslistin’, she managed to get someone to donate one (although it is missing the turning plate thing, but i went to big lots and got a plate for 50 cents). this solves many problems.

i think i’m doing good at brighton rec. i reformed the gym game system, got heelies banned from the gymnasium, organized and inflated all the playground balls and basketballs, attached a lanyard and a whistle to the ball closet key, made the gymnastics area safer by saying that mats were no longer to be placed underneath the basketball hoop, and now this. a few weeks ago i made the rule that kids weren’t allowed in the kitchen, because they were too loud and distruptive to the rest of the building. so one counselor would collect all the bags after the kids wrote their names on it, and they would go to the kitchen and pop them all, this meant one counselor was gone for about 20 minutes, increasing the ratio of children to counselors. this will be much better.

stumbled upon this site, how to tick people off. my favourite is number 11, “finish all your sentences with the words ‘in accordance with prophesy.’”

need to study

um, the last day of second semester is officially over. i have my econ midterm at 10:30 tomorrow morning and i’m friggin’ nervous. i plan on studying tonight, but if all else fails (like it usually does), i will be getting up at the normal 6:00am to study some more.

today my econ teacher repeativly said the phrase, “IT technology” and it almost drove me crazy. it’s like when people tell me they have to visit the “ATM machine” or that they learned about the “HIV virus” in health. or “DSL line.” or “PIN number.” or “LCD display.”

no interesting link for tonight, i’ve gots to study!

sunday

tomorrow is the last day of the semester. i’m undecided whether i’m glad or not.

so, well, it’s sunday. which meant i drove liz around a lot, finished my self-portrait collage, cleaned up because i couldn’t see the carpet under the layers of magazine pages, did a bit of physics homework, and didn’t study for my midterms. so that’s all good.
