time machine! time machine!

excuse my french, but holy shit. mc lars was the most amazing concert i’ve been to yet. yes, the lack of a live band made the music a bit more bland, but there is much much more that added to the night which made it the best ever. and i’ll tell you about that… tomorrow! because it’s 11:45 on a school night and my mother is making me go to bed.

in other news, i got accepted to SUNY geneseo! considering it was my top choice, i’m very excited. i haven’t visited yet, so i’ll have to get on that asap.

dag, yo

i’m super excited for tomorrow. if you read the comments you would have noticed that curls, liz, and i are going to the mc lars concert at waterstreet tomorrow!!!11!!!11!one

so every year liz and i have a brilliant idea to make a video for ham jam, and i think this year it’s actually happening. tomorrow after school, to be exact. or at least we think it is. we’re doing our trademark cough-sniff-zip-clickypen shizbot.

oh, by the way

i was thinking about what i want to do when i graduate college, and i’m really stuck. i was thinking that i should do something that i really enjoy, but that really isn’t plausible. currently in my life the only things i actually still find joy in are my job and the internet. and i can’t make a career out of my job, since i just watch children for three hours a day for minimum wage (benifiting the kids and myself, i have a really fun time). jobs aren’t supposed to be fun. and i’m not even going to discuss why the internet can’t be my job (lolz).

if anyone knows of any jobs that involve doing what i do at brighton rec. or the internet, let me know asap.

last day of break!

liz and i saw ghost rider today, and i liked it. it’s gotten mixed reviews, but i think it’s kind of hard to make a movie that critics like, because the story revolves around a guy who’s head turns into a flaming skull. so i thought it was cool, and enjoyable. and even liz liked it. although i have a soft spot for all comic book-turned movies.

and i’ve turned into a player hater. we have banned heelys from the gym at brighton rec, because the kids constantly fall down and they’re dangerous. but i can’t help wanting my own… must. have. these. now.

whoa, a small batch! i’ve been thinking that i should spend more time on a smaller amount of icons instead of less time on more icons. you know, take things slow. i started these yesterday, finished them today. it’s true though, this episode wasn’t full of a ton of iconic moments like usual, so that also contributed to the small amount. this episode was full of dialogue-propelled plot lines. but one thing that i want to mention concerning a spoiler i read about a few weeks ago. did anyone else read something about someone being pregnant? because my bet is on jan now. near the end of the episode she says she feels sick (michael thinks it’s because of the potato salad, lol), and she’s very, uh, horny this episode. and she’s moody. plus she does admit that she wants babies. ergo de facto, i think that if that spoiler was valid, jan would be my top choice.

super

so today was the last day of feb. recess camp (sad face?). the kids were unreasonably annoying today and long story short, we had to use the last punishment we had left: take away free time and replace it with a game no one likes. so we played overtake (a tag game with teams, you have to lap the other runner completely to win, it takes forever), which got them nice and tired out to the point were we had to stop because no one could run anymore, and considering they are kids, that was amazing.

i also played superchess (keith brought it in, so i’ll probably never play again), which is almost cooler than super scrabble, but less cool because i’m better at scrabble than chess.

(p.s. this entry is being backdated because i fell asleep at 7pm. it’s really 7pm saturday night)

yo stranger, step off

today was winterfest at brighton rec. so at 10:30 we took the kids outside where they could check out some sled dogs, watch a man carve wood with a chainsaw, paint on a wall of snow, climb on the playground, or just play in the snow. i, of course, had to partake in a very long snowball fight, since it’s not like i can get hit by you-know-who and not retaliate. it ended up with me against about 6 boys, which didn’t go so well. let’s just say, my socks and hoodie are still soaked. i really should have worn two pairs of pants.

there was also stuff in the gym—a bounce house, a children’s band (they sung songs like the ymca, and rapped about stranger danger), a police dog show, clowns that face painted, and games. today was really hectic, but the kids had tons of fun, and so did i.

and i got accepted to RIT, so that’s cool.

i dunno

part iii to the fish saga: there are no more fish.

so i really don’t mind working eight and a half hours at brighton rec, i’m having so much fun. the kids this week are a lot more well-behaved than the kids at after school, and because there are more we get to play games that we normally can’t, like kickball and spud.

tomorrow is winterfest, that means we’re going to spend two hours outside doing stuffz in the snow and such. i need to find my gloves. and some boots. and maybe a coat. or maybe not.

cool

two more fish died today. that means there is only one left, that weird suckerfish thing. very sad.

after work today, i picked up kayla and chels and we went to ultimate piercings and i got a double upper cartilage piercing (chels got a third on her lobes, and kayla forgot her i.d.). i was a little nervous at first, but that place was as sterile as an operating room—there were biohazard boxes and everything came prepackaged in plastic bags, colour-coded by whether it was disposable or whether it was reused and what kind of sterilization process it went through. our piercer was tony and he was really cool. it turns out he used to live in the house across the street from ours when i was a baby, he even knows who my parents are (”oh, you live in the red house? your dad is a firefighter, right? and your mom’s a paramedic?”). the piercing itself hurt less than my lobe piercings, maybe because those were done with guns. so the actually piercing didn’t hurt, but it hurts now when i poke it. all and all, i’m really happy with this. my mom even said, and i quote, “that looks really cool.”

feb recess camp

so today was pretty exciting. it started with one kid throwing up, which was a first for all four of the staff (worse than that was when a really oblivious kid slipped in it). i felt like a nurse today, finding incident report forms and breaking open ice packs.

and later i found that three of the fish in the tank were dead, the only two left were the brand new goldfish we got last week and they don’t look so hot, one is floating on the top, the other is sitting on the bottom. that makes me sad.

our director didn’t have a schedule or anything, so i kind of just winged it all day. i was the only one that had actually worked at a brighton camp before, so i sort of had to take over telling ‘em what was going on (snack time, how to play gaga ball, et cetera). i kind of liked it, i think i’d like to be a director when i’m old enough.

i also got two home runs during kickball.
