so, as you may or may not already know, the dentmobile (aka my mom’s car) has been promised to me when i graduate, as dictated in “the maszerowski family car schedule.” so today i said to my mom, “hey man, when i get your car i am deff spray-painting the hubcaps pink, because your car is ugly.” and do you know what she said to me? “you can do it right now if you switch all my snow tires back.” so guess where curls and i took a trip to? home depot. and now there are 4 hot pink hubcaps sitting in the garage (they need another coat tomorrow). but i’d like to add that changing tires is serious business. it took us awhile to find the hydraulic jack, and we only managed to find 3 tires. and then we couldn’t get the lug nuts off, so my dad fashioned a persuasion bar out of the handle of the jack. 3 hours, 15 lug nuts, and 2 ruined pairs of pants later, we successfully changed three tires and spray painted four hubcaps. i’ll post a picture when i put them back on.

curls and i also saw blades of glory, which definitely wasn’t as awesome as anchorman (can anything ever be as awesome though?), but it was still pretty dang funny, abiet fairly cheesy. i’d rent it, definitely. one of the best scenes is this ridiculous stock footage in which someone’s head falls off after a skating move in north korea. classic.

i really like lists.

(1) it’s friday. i played badminton with dinah, sang about mantees in the hallway, and was able to get a dr pepper from the vending machine at 7 in the morning. so it was basically an amazing school day.

(2) becky nominated me for a “young citizen of the year” award, and wrote this really fantastic letter about me. it’s hard to really think about the fact that you make a difference in the lives of other people, but when you get it all down on paper, it’s almost impossible to comprehend.

(3) becky also gave me an information packet about this campaign called small talk, big difference, whose premise basically is: talk to teenagers. just because they have strange hair or weird piercings doesn’t mean they are stupid or defiant or any other sterotypes adults seem to have. i would also like to add that this included included a t-shirt that says ‘i get straight As’ in a grungy font. very nice.

(4) i need sleep.

MY NEW FAVOURITE ANIMAL IS A MANATEE.

it all started a few weeks ago when in multi-lit we had to compare things to existentialism. one of the things we chose to compare was a manatee (existentialism is like a manatee because it’s becoming big and lame and becoming extinct). so in chorus when jenny was improving on the piano and asked for something to sing about, i of course said, “manatees!” so she sang about manatees and going to sea world and such. we did it again the next rehersal.

then i decided i’d do my endangered species art project on manatees.

and after singing about manatees in chorus one day, i remixed a song we are learning with the lyrics, “how can i, can i, can i, keep from, keep from, keep from, keep from, loving, loving, loving, loving, manatees, manatees, manatees, manatees.”

on the trip to disney world, we passed a shed and dinah asked what was in there, and i said, i dunno, a manatee? so then every time we passed a pond or dinah would say to me, “hey lan, that’s where they are.” and i’d say, “yes, definitely.”

then today in chorus jenny improved again, but this time dinah and i both took turns making up the lyrics and doing backup vocals. so it was pretty much amazing.

i’ve decided we should start a band and call it “save the mantees.” we’d record a demo and then every time we played a live show we’d take turns between lyrics and backup vocals, with jenny on the piano. and perhaps liz and stabby and lina could join. and we’d have t-shirts too.

so i’m officially caught up with all the stuff i missed (homework, quizzes, projects). well, i still have to get the dvd to watch for spanish, but my teacher never does things quickly, so it’ll be a few days. but anyway, it’s good to be back.

today in school i actually had an embarassing moment, which hardly ever happens with me, as i have pink hair and dress like a dork. well, anyways, in english we are watching a video about this 13-year-old girl that lives in a village in china, and she has to substitute for a teacher when he leaves to care for his sick mother. the girl is helped by the class monitor, which our teacher explained is a student hand-picked by the teacher to perform the duties of both a student and an authority figure. and then the boys got to talking about who our teacher would pick. and yadda yadda yadda, it was really embarassing. it didn’t help that i was also wearing mickey mouse ears at the time.

i facebook’d all my photos this morning, and i just finished flickr’n them. it’s too late to caption/tag them, so i’ll do that tomorrow, but feel free to look at them and, uh, guess what they are of.

i got in at 12:45am last night, and i’m going to bed now. 5 hours of sleep is totally not cool.

today was jam packed full of day 3 goodness (which equals a trip to weggie’s and wendy’s with mikkety-k and chels) and a lot of hurrying around the house looking for things to thrown into my pink suitcase. but i’m packed, and i’m getting into bed now.

yikes, i’m stressed out (which is silly, for i am a second semester senior) because of all this makeup work i have to do due to the trip. i was going to do some tonight, but that thing happened where my room was messy and i had to spend an hour cleaning, and it’s 11.

ETA2: i sort of learned how to play pokemon (the card game) today. actually, i sort of learned how to agree with the 2nd grader sitting on my lap when he told me which card/attack to use. so that was fun.

all right, it’s decided: i’m going to geneseo. i think geneseo and i are a good fit, and i’m glad that i’m one step closer to this whole college thing.

so, my trip is in 4 days! ah!

got my hair did today. my hair is pink, the tub is pink, the world is thrown back into balance once again.

so yeah. saturday. i accomplished nothing, although i did pick up liz from sam’s house, and then i watched repo man and bleached my roots (hair cut slash dye job tomorrow!). after i watched ella enchanted, and of course i then had to read the book once again, because the movie has like no similarities except the character names. i finished the 232 page book in about three hours, so that managed to waste some time. this also lead me to read up on reading rate calculations, mine is about 580 words per minute. this makes sense, as i usually finish reading things before others. this is also why i believe that i can’t form coherent sentences sometimes, i think faster than i can talk.

oh yeah, happy st. patrick’s day!
