the circle of life

so guess what my multi-lit teacher wrote in response to my email about my project? she said, and i quote, “AWESOME IDEA!” so this is basically turning into the best project ever. i just need to find some good USSR/CCCP images for my header…

our last chorus concert was tonight! it wasn’t our best, but it was by far the most memorable. we had our senior party beforehand, and we watched videos of us since 6th grade (did you know i had a solo in 6th grade? seems i blocked it out of my memory). it was weird, i had blonde hair in middle school. performance-wise, we were pretty so-so. but ’sol good, because it’s our last concert, and for that reason it was awesome. plus mark the accompanist signed my yearbook. he’s like seriously the coolest guy i know.

top secret

so i think you’re going to have to wait for the weekend for the posts about the past weekend. sorry about that.

i have decided that i’m not going to post every day anymore. basically, i’m trying to get ready for college life by starting good habits (i actually make my bed now, it’s crazy). having “posting on my blog” on my priorities list isn’t very beneficial for me, so i’m chucking that. i’ll post often though, but only when i have something to say. but who knows, i might keep posting every day anyway : )

i’m almost done with my multi-lit project. i just have to do a rewrite/proofwrite of my critical lens essay, and do the “creative portion.” tomorrow i’m going to ask my teacher if making a website would be an acceptable project for this section, because i’m having problems thinking of something i can do for it that i’m actually good at.

ETA: LOLBOTS!

premonition?

do you ever have one of those dreams when it feels so real, that when your alarm goes off you get really confused on how you got from where you were in the dream to your bed? i had one of those last night. i dreamt liz and i were going to school, but the bus never showed up so we were standing around the bus stop for a very long time (which actually wasn’t my bus stop, it was the second bus stop on my street). suddenly two of the girls at the stop kidnapped liz and i and took them back to our house, where they locked us in liz’s room. turns out they were communists and they tried to force us to be communists too. they went away for a few minutes and i escaped and ran for my mom, who happened to be in the living room. i told her about the communists, and she said we should call the police. i was giving a statement when i woke up.

and do you know what the craziest part was? MY BUS WAS REALLY REALLY LATE TODAY BECAUSE IT BROKE DOWN. they had to send another bus, which i’d like to mention was already full of kids, so we had to sit two or three to a seat (we haven’t done that since elementary school).

russian reversals?

okay, i promise i’ll update the past two day’s posts asap. i’ve been at home a grand total of one day the entire weekend, and that was today (and i spent 3 hours of that at the movies seeing potc 3 again with dinah, which was just as awesome the second time as it was the first time). it’s been a whirlwind of activities that involve me not going to bed until 3-4ish, which is awesome and annoying at the same time.

i wrote my critical lens essay for my mult-lit final project today! that’s 50% of the grade, so i’m feeling pretty good. in america, you write critical lenses. in soviet russia, critical lenses write YOU!

physics is BOHRing

so today was basically an awesome day.

(1) the fire alarm went off during my physics test, so we all got a nice break from the utter boredom to go outside, where it was 92 degrees out. gah, i hate summer.

(2) i already finished my spanish final project, so i spent the period working on my multi-lit final project.

(3) in multi-lit i spent the whole period pretending to work on my final project. ironic, ain’t it?

(4) i already finished my art sculpture, so i spent the period trying to teach jon how to do the rubik’s cube, plus trying to explain springfest to mike. i wish them both luck.

(5) when i was working on my mulit-lit project in the computer lab later in the day, my physics teacher’s class came in. while they were working we talked for a bit, and he said he wishes he had switched me into AP physics at the beginning of the year, because he thinks i would have done really well (this might have something to do with the 99% final averages i had every single quarter). he said i should definitely take calculus and physics when i sign up for classes in college, because then i’d learn real stuff, not this “kind of realistic but not really” stuff that we learn in high school.

what a country!

today feels like it’s been forever. i worked on so much of my final projects today, i’m quite amazed with myself. i completely finished my spanish powerpoint and assessment plus the notes for my slides. and then i finished the entire culture part of my multicultural lit. project. also, during school i bookmarked half my book where quotes i plan to use in my essay are (i would have done more tonight, but an entire bottle of hair product spilled on my [library] book when i was downstairs, so it’s drying right now). plus my yakov smirnoff poster came in the mail today.

have you ever walked somewhere and have someone honk their horn at you (someone you know, obvs), and you get in their car while they are stopped at an intersection? seems pretty dangerous, yes? imagine the crossing guard telling you to hurry up and get in, as opposed to yelling at you for even thinking about running into the street. now imagine there are three of you, and the two seats up front are full. and now imagine that it’s 7:32 in the morning. good times.

yesterday and today were fire drill day (happy fire drill day!), as we had two every day. that means it’s nice out finally in rochester.

powerball

so there’s this game at my school called “powerball,” which was invented by the gym teachers. basically it’s soccer, volleyball, tennis, hockey, and basketball mixed together. it’s played on half a tennis court, with a volleyball. there are two goals with a huge crease that goes around the goals, like in hockey. if you step into the crease while shooting, no goal is scored and possession is given to the other team. you can either dribble the ball like it’s a soccer ball, or like it’s a basketball, and you can switch between the two. stealing is allowed. there is a different line on the crease to shoot from depending if you are kicking it in or throwing it (my preferred method, as i can throw really hard). goalies can use any parts of their bodies in order to block. the game is in constant motion, so when someone scores a goal the goalie throws or punts it in and the game continues.

basically, it’s the best sport ever invented. last class i got 8 goals, and today i got 11. my team is undefeated. we have a killer offense, which i am a part of. i have scored more goals than my entire team combined. my two fellow offenders (is that the right term?) are really good at passing, and have got the pass-pass-shoot move down. our midfielder is crazy as hell and never seems to lose energy, even though she’s constantly running the whole game. our defenders are awesome, and we have the best goalie in the class, she let in two goals total today, and we played 3 games.

the hair is pink

soooooooo, i redyed my hair today. it’s nice and bright—just the way i like it. ha ha, yesterday my parents and i were at a resturant and the manager comes up to our table and tells me that the small girl a few tables away would like you to know that she likes your hair and wants to dye hers just like yours. so i turned around and waved, and she waved back and smiled really big, then gave me a thumbs up. i usually say something along the lines of “i get that all the time,” but i actually can’t say that i have ever had that happen before. in fact, i don’t think the manager has ever come up to me to say anything, let alone something as silly as that.

i do get a lot of, “whoa, did you know your hair is pink?” to which i reply, “AAAHHHH! oh my god, why did no one tell me this before?!?!?!” i’m not stupid you know, i have a little thing i like to call VISION.
