so, i have pink hair. who knew? i spent about 2 hours writing this post (most of that time was taken up by me searching the wayback machine for photos that used to be on my blogspot blog, lol). it’s pretty much a chronicle of every single hair color i’ve had, complete with photo and description. enjoy.

 

MAY ‘03- OCT. ‘03: SPX BLUE MAYHEM

this was the first demi-permanent color that i ever did. i was in 8th grade and i was 13 years old (hence the dorky photo that i had to scan, because i didn’t have a digital camera then). before that i had bleached-blonde hair since 6th grade, so i experimented a lot with less permanent dyes that lasted a few washes. i really liked having blue hair, and i kept it blue for quite awhile.

OCT. ‘03- JAN. ‘04: SPX NUCLEAR RED

red was next, because, um, i don’t remember. this color was okay, i didn’t really like it that much, so when it became time to redye, i decided to change it.

JAN. ‘04- MAR. ‘04: SPX WILD FLOWER PURPLE

so, me and purple hair. NOT GOOD TIMES. for some reason the purple came off on everything i came in contact with, no matter how many times i shampooed. i ruined many shirts, sheets, towels, et cetera. i wrote a whole rant post about caring for it here.

MAR. ‘04- MAY ‘04: RAW GORGEOUS GREEN

i did green for st. patrick’s day. green hair was kind of lame. i was constantly nervous people would make oompa loompa comments, but i luckily never got any. but it faded fast, and i didn’t redye.

MAY ‘04- JULY ‘04: RAW CANDY PINK

omg, i loved this color so much. this was when i chopped off a ton of my hair, because at this point my ends were fried. but it wasn’t enough to keep me from dying my hair. i was actually going to redye, but when i was getting my hair cut my stylist showed me this wonderful teal blue…

JULY ‘04- SEPT. ‘04: FUDGE TEAL

i had really high expectations for this color, since it was my first time getting it done in a salon with dye they provided. and it looked really great, i loved the teal. but the weekend after i got it done, i headed to summer camp (where the pic was taken, and the reason for the strange crop). i was stuck there until the end of august, and i had to deal with the worst thing ever: fast-fading hair color. one week and it was already faded. i was crushed, and mad. i vowed never to use fudge again.

SEPT. ‘04- NOV. ‘04: SPX ATOMIC PINK

by now i was just changing colors for the sake of changing colors. my hair was damaged beyond all belief, since i was bleaching the whole thing to change colors. but i once again loved having pink hair, and from then on whenever someone asked me what my favorite color to do was, i said “pink!” i didn’t redye though, because at this point i was on a quest to change my hair color as much as possible.

NOV. ‘04- JAN. ‘05: SPX NUCLEAR RED

i think i did red again for christmas, to be festive. i loved this color because it was so friggin’ neon. it blinded me, and i loved it. but not enough to keep it, like usual.

JAN. ‘05- MAR. ‘05: SPX BLUE MAYHEM

remembering how much i loved my original blue, i tried it again. it was pretty awesome the second time around, i loved that it faded gracefully, not splotchy. but march rolled around…

MAR. ‘05- APR. ‘05: RAW GORGEOUS GREEN

march meant green for st. patrick’s day. i liked green more this time than i did the first time, but it faded really weird, so i didn’t keep it as long as i usually did. i didn’t redye, because i could never see myself being “that girl with green hair.” it’s just not one of those colors.

APR. ‘05- JUNE ‘05: SPX FISHBOWL BLUE

this was pretty much the same teal that i had before, except it was special effects, not fudge. for that reason, the color lasted considerably longer. but when it did start to fade, it faded bad. real bad. i just never had any luck with green tones, i guess.

JUNE ‘05- AUG. ‘05: RAW PURPLE PASSION

you think i would have learned from the first time i did purple. i even used the same color, and had the same difficulties. it just gets everywhere. i would sweat and my skin would turn purple. it was terrible. as much as i loved purple hair, i just couldn’t keep it. and i vowed never to do purple again.

AUG. ‘05- OCT. ‘05: SPX CUPCAKE PINK

i never really liked this color. it was pink, and i liked that, but it was too light to begin with. it just wasn’t as vibrant as i would have preferred. but it faded gracefully, so i was thankful for that.

OCT. ‘05- DEC. ‘05: SPX BLUE MAYHEM WITH SPX NUCLEAR RED ON ONE SIDE

this was probably the most adventurous thing i ever did with my hair. right before my mom started to do the front of my hair, i told her to stop and i ran and got some red that we had leftover from a few dyes ago. she put it on one side of the front of my head. it was really spontaneous, and it looked cool… until it started to fade. that was probably the worst ever. they faded at different rates, and that mixed in with my brown roots made my whole head look grayish. awful. never did that again.

DEC. ‘05- PRESENT: SPX ATOMIC PINK

i’ve had my hair atomic pink for about two years, and it’s probably the best thing i’ve ever done for my hair. now i only bleach the roots, not my entire head. this still has made my hair completely fried, but it’s considerably better than it used to be. i keep it short to prevent my ends from breaking, and i use a deep conditioner every week. i like pink, having pink hair has kind of defined me. some of the kids where i work even call me “pinky.” i get a lot of, “hey, you’re that girl with pink hair!” comments too. my friends can sometimes get annoyed by the constant comments i get when i’m out (many from old ladies, i’d like to mention), but it’s kind of become just part of my life. i walked through walmart yesterday and got three “nice hair” comments, all which i respond to with a thank you and a smile. because i’m nice. but i’m kind of worried about college when i’ll have to get a real job. will i have to say goodbye to my pink hair? i hope not, i love having pink hair.
