reasons for making a new layout:
- the old one was falling apart (coding-wise)
- many plugins i wished to implement were incompatible with my previous layout
- i needed something more professional
things i like about this new layout:
- it’s simple
- it uses minimal images (loads faster)
- it works with all my plugins
- the sidebar is on top
- it uses my new favorite font, lucida grande
- the post meta info. is on the side of the entries
- the unordered link lists have cool hovers
- i was able to install threaded comments! (more on that below)
what i need from windows users:
i would really appreciate some screenshots of the site on a pc, in both firefox and internet explorer. i have absolutely no idea if the site looks okay or not, and i really want to know.
about the new commenting system:
imaclanni.com now has threaded comments! that means instead of responding to a comment at the end of the list, you can now directly reply to a specific comment by hitting “reply” at the end of said post. you can even reply to a reply. it’s really nifty, and it makes communicating easier for us all. let me know if you run into any trubs with it, i’ll help you out.
STATUS: ONLINE
i quite enjoy the new layout!
it loads just as fast as the other one did for me, lol.
and i could get you a screenshot sometime because we still have the family computer in the basement (which is a pc) but my mom loves my mac so much she’s getting it to replace the pc because its slowly breaking anyway. lol but that’s not the point, the point is i can get you a screenshot :)
thanks! and yeah, it was way to slow before. and i’d really appreciate the screenshot!
Oooh, spiffy! It’s very clean and airy. The threaded comments are a great idea because I liked to read others’ comments but it was kind of confusing to know who was responding to whom. *thumbs up*
exactly what i was thinking. and thanks!
Here’s a screenshot for you:

Also, threaded comments are made of win.
thanks for the screenshot! was that taken from firefox? lol, i’ll assume yes, since it looks fine. haha.

for my favorite lan :) it looks great, but not so much in ie yet! also–it may just be me, but the white on black + monitor + text size = a little hard to read, although i do love lucida grande!
OH MY GOD THIS IS NOT GOOD. wow. um, yeah. i tweaked the css a bit. maybe you can send another screenshot?
okay, so it looks as though people got the screenshots before me; but i did try and i have to let you know what happened.
i took them, all went well, then my windows computer (of course) lags terribly and it took 5 minutes to load a page on the internet (because i was going to email them to you) but then i had to go out for 6:15 so i didn’t have time and i just got home now.
lol, it’s fine. thanks for trying!
But yes, it does look that messed up in IE
do you know if it looks any better now? i changed some things around that may have been part of the problem, and i have no idea if it looks any different.
Awesome new layout!! I’ve been wanting a new one for my site, too (which I rarely use anymore), but I haven’t any inspiration! :/
thank you! and keep looking for inspiration, you’re bound to find some somewhere!
Looks much better in IE now! Good work. There is still a little spacing issue, but it doesn’t impair the site (just a little less between the lines).
And look what I found for you! http://www.pure-mac.com/webb.html#mie
IE for Mac!
awesome, thanks! i will see if i can fix the spacing when i have access to a pc, but at least it works now.
lol, i have ie for mac! the thing is, ie for windows behaves completely different than ie for mac, because the mac version has not been updated in a few years (they stopped releasing it), and the windows version has.
