breaking dawn

it took me nine whole hours, but i finished breaking dawn!

just some quick reactions under the cut. spoiler alert.

first 1/2 of the book = FTL
second 1/2 of the book = FTW

basically, i hated the renesmee storyline, mostly because it was so absurd. i still can’t believe that stephenie meyer actually thought that edward, a vampire, knocking up bella, a human, would be a likable aspect of the story. but i can’t deny that hearing about edward/bella sexytime is quite excellent.

okay, vamp!bella was perfect. i adored that bella was able to overcome her thirst with ease, because, well, that’s so like her. i also thought her “gift” was just right. the part at the end where bella showed edward that she can use her power to allow him to see into her mind was so cute. now he’ll know exactly how much she loves him <3

oh, and for once i didn't despise jacob. i'm so glad that stephenie meyer was able to make his part in the story something that didn't conflict with the OTP of edward/bella. it was cute how he defeneded nessie the way he did. he's much less annoying when he's not obsessed with bella.

and yes, i did cry towards the end. i'm a sucker for goodbye scenes and happy endings, what can i say?

to sum up, an excellent ending to my favorite series of books. yes, people, i like twilight more than i like harry potter. deal with it.

First of all, yeah, I totally cried at the end, too.

And I also like Twilight more than Harry Potter. But that’s because Twilight is more of a romance, which is my preferred genre, whereas Harry Potter…isn’t, you know?

Okay, my feelings on Renesmee…I loved that she made it so Jacob would always be in their lives (I kind of, um, love Jacob after BD), and I loved that it was sort of destiny that Jacob would be in Bella’s life, since he imprinted on her daughter and everything. I didn’t mind Renesmee so much (when it first said she was pregnant, I was, like, flipping out), my only complaint with her is that, because Bella got pregnant, we didn’t REALLY get to see Edward and Bella, like, settling in to married life. We didn’t really get a lot of them together until after they had Nessie, and they were focused on her, too. I wanted to see them married, having sex, getting ready for Bella to change, and just having each other.

And Emmett is pretty much my pimp at this point.

I LOVED that Bella lifted her shield so Edward could read her mind, and now I’m crying just thinking about that part. They’re so adorable.

And as my final thought (because this is getting kind of long, and I could probably discuss this book for hours and hours), I want to say that I agree that the first half wasn’t that great. As I was reading it, and as it got into Jacob’s part, I was like, “Um, this is kind of a sucky ending….” But as soon as she had Nessie, it got insane, and became a perfect ending, and I think it may be my favorite book in the series. And that is officially my final thought, unless I think of something else to say, but hopefully I won’t, because then I would talk for hours.

okay, wow, totally agree with EVERYTHING you said. especially about the lack of edward/bella. i agree, the reason i love these books is the whole romance aspect. pro’ly why my favorite parts of hp are when ron and hermione are all cute together. lol.
