… received several cute cards and gifts — i got the pens i asked for, the rubik’s cube clock i linked to, and the little mermaid III.

… didn’t get any sneak hugs, thank god!

… purchased season 4 of the office and season 2 of 30 rock on itunes. sixty dollar b-day gift to myself.

… got cupcakes from my suitehearts <3

so, my nineteenth birthday is september 10. to quell people from repeatedly asking me what i want, i’ve assembled a list.

i painted five billion mini-murals at the middle school on saturday. and by five billion i mean eight. it was a mentoring club project (that took 7 hours, i’d like to add). turns out the high school members are kind of indolent this year and haven’t been involved in many of the projects. lucky for them lanni is always there to save the day.

today is my dad’s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

i also cleaned out the garage today, so that i could actually fit my bike in it. plus i have to make room for a super secret surprise!

liz turned 17 today! my little sister is getting less little every day : P

i went back to the roc for her party. it was a swell time. highlights included a very delicious pizza and a trip to buckland park. please note that the trip to the park (late at night) involved me driving 15 people in the 5-person bulgemobile. that beats last night’s record!

and now i’m back in the ’seo with the dentmobile, now rightfully equipped with pink hubcaps for the week. life is good.

sruthi: yes, she gave them to me. actually, i took them. off her desk. when she wasn’t looking.

later, after we successfully broke into marie’s car, everyone (megan, sruthi, tommi, alexa, and marie) came into my room singing happy birthday. you see, when my fish died, megan said my real present “was in the mail” and vowed that they would get me a new present. since then whenever i mention i need something, someone says “i already got you that, it’s in the mail.” anyway, they gave me a new present, a game of some sorts. i was relieved, because sruthi had written “hope this one lives, my friend” on the card.

yesterday was sruthi’s birthday, so we all went out to big tree inn to celebrate both of our’s (they only accept student meal plan cards tuesday-thursday). it’s probably the nicest restaurant i’ve been to in a very long time—two forks, four or so courses, fancy menus with $25 meals listed on them, et cetera. but sruthi and i got free desserts, so it was all good.

today i only had two classes and i was done by 11:20am (harry potter class was canceled for today). so i did some errands: checked my mailbox, got a new id card (mine somehow got deactivated so i kept having to wait for someone to come and let me into my dorm, and that got old fast), took the bus to wegman’s to buy groceries (milk, dr p, freezy-pops, goldfish), filled the brita, and took down the recycling and the garbage.

now i’m watching the rugby team outside my window practice. they practice every single day at 4:30, and most don’t wear shirts. this so isn’t helping me finish my physics homework.

birthday updates, i suppose. i redecorated my wall with photos, instead of getting a head start on my physics homework, due thursday. i put my three birthday cards up too. which made me realize something: you don’t get gifts in college. besides my dead fish and my three birthday cards, i haven’t gotten a gift yet. but i guess that’s what happens when you get older. ’sol good, though.

ETA: when i was filling up our brita at the water fountain, some boys came up to me and said they had seen my shared itunes library on the onondaga network, and that it was really “awesome.” then they said i should try out for a specialty show on the campus radio. i’ve always thought about this, but i don’t really think i’d make a good dj. but it’s nice to know people think i have a good taste in music!

yay, today i’m 18! liz just called me on the phone and said she had a present for me, and it turned out to be the brighton high school choir singing happy birthday to me! i don’t remember doing any singing birthdaygrams when i was in choir, so i feel special : )

to mark the ocassion, i have updated the sidebar about me to read that i’m 18, and i updated the about page similarly (plus added in that i currently have 10 piercings, i forgot to mention that on july 31 when i got my fourth lobes done). so that’s all done.

today when i was sitting in my room with megan and sruthi, we somehow got on the topic of fish, and for some reason i said something along the lines of, “sruthi, you probably have a fish in your closet.” when megan and sruthi looked at each other, i instantly knew that was the thing that she had been hiding in her room all day (i wasn’t allowed in, and she wouldn’t tell me why). they kept trying to deny it, but i finally got it out of them. then they said, “happy birthday” and brought in a goldfish bowl with two fish in it!

i named the fat one “chubbs” and the small one “jaws!”

this weekend i:

(1) went to my cousin steven’s 14th birthday party (happy birthday stevie!).
(2) played guitar hero for xbox, marking the first time in years that i successfully played a video game.
(3) swam in a pool for the first time since steve’s party last year (i’m not really a swimming fan).
(4) caught up on my reading (harry potter, of course).
(5) drove more than 80 miles, and none of it on the express way.
(6) rubik’s cube’d a lot (my best time is still 1 minute 30 seconds).
(7) went grocery shopping twice.
(8) played scrabble with stevie (no one wants to play with me anymore, which makes me sad a lot).
(9) did my laundry (i know, amazing!).
(10) watched both anchorman and wayne’s world, two of my most favoritest movies ever.

i would also like to mention that today i broke my 18 day streak of not watching television by indulging in a rerun of “family guy” as i ate dinner. but i would like to note that i wouldn’t have turned it on if my dad wasn’t already watching it, because i was reading the newspaper at the same time.

i’m using my old keyboard again. i can’t believe that new one crapped out so quickly. i guess having a key board with a broken spacebar that’s duct taped together is better than one that has several dysfunctional keys (the m doesn’t work at all now). bah.

i gave blood today, yay! it was very exciting since i have had low iron levels for a record THIRTEEN MONTHS. my arm aches now though, but it feels good to save lives.

i’m going through that stage at the end of the school year when i really don’t want to do any work, but i have two HUGE projects due, one next week and one two weeks from now. both count as my final exam grade. and i’m really stressing out. i think about them all the time, but every time i go to do them i find something else to do. i’m setting my mac alarm to 7am, and i’m turning up the volume on my speakers really loud before i go to bed. i AM going to work on them tomorrow.
