1. i started up working at after school again on thursday. it’s been great so far. it’s nice seeing all the kids and my friends (aka the other staff members) again. i even got voted “favorite counselor” by not only the kids, but the counselors too. haha.

2. i mowed the front lawn today. i’m only mentioning this because it took me two hours (my family let it grow too tall while i was away so i had to mow high, rake, mow low, rake, and sweep). awesome.

3. i got to drive my dad’s new car today! it was effing awesome. nicest car i have ever driven in my life (before this it was the driver’s ed car i drove a few years ago). it was kind of weird having the shifter not being on the steering column, though. but the hologram on the window that shows your speed, the temperature, and the direction made up for this by infinity.

4. wednesday was the six month anniversary of something very important to me. i can’t say more, but it means a lot, and i’m happy that it’s been six months. i’m really only throwing this in here for my own reference.

(2) i’ve neglected to talk about finals exams here, eh? well, i had two on friday, chem and psych. i already found out my grade for my chem exam — 76%. the average was 74%, so i’m (sadly) okay with this. that’ll get me a B in the class. unfortunately, i’m not making the dean’s list this semester. i don’t care though, i worked 10x as hard this semester and i’m proud of my grades.

(3) tomorrow i have my dreaded calc final exam. at least we’re allowed to have a cheat sheet. funny story actually—when our professor first told us about said cheat sheet, he started off by saying, “now, one of you has an unfair advantage over everyone else. *points to me* lanni, can you tell us why that is?” i sighed and replied, “i write really small.”

(4) omg i’m done with my freshman year of college in three days! i move out wednesday at 5pm!

(5) my dad got a new car. he’s brakes stopped working while he was driving (luckily he hadn’t gone very far). i haven’t seen the new car yet, but he’s bringing me back to rochester in it, so i get to see it then! but i’m not allowed to drive it, sadly. ’tis okay.

Dad and I both know you want a car really really bad… Freshman year is a lot of schoolwork, life changes, new friends, new stuff. Lets make it through the freshmen year first! We promise that by the time you go to work in May you will have a car without having to put all your savings towards it.

later in the email it says:
So I have this large spreadsheet I’ve been keeping for years of payment coming up like house repairs, replace cars, get Lanni a car, pay tuition, get Lizzie a car, mom retires, dad retires, etc. Your car is scheduled for MAY 2008.

liz turned 17 today! my little sister is getting less little every day : P

i went back to the roc for her party. it was a swell time. highlights included a very delicious pizza and a trip to buckland park. please note that the trip to the park (late at night) involved me driving 15 people in the 5-person bulgemobile. that beats last night’s record!

and now i’m back in the ’seo with the dentmobile, now rightfully equipped with pink hubcaps for the week. life is good.

i have just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. and I need all of you to stop what you’re doing and listen:

there is now another car in the rochester area with neon pink hubcaps. i saw it today, and i am devastated by the loss of my uniqueness. this has been a tragic day for me.

so… about an hour ago i was hit by a car in a wegmans parking lot. true story.

i was leaving the store with my dr pepper in hand, and walking to my car. suddenly a car started backing out of a handicap parking space, and it bumped right into me. i was obviously not injured, but it did shove me a few feet, and it made me drop my dr pepper. the old man driving the car rolled down his window and said he was sorry and asked if i was okay. i said yes and continued walking to my car.

but seriously, who throws it into reverse without looking behind them? i saw he had his brakes on when i was walking past, but it wasn’t in reverse yet. one little look behind him would have shown him that someone was friggin’ there. wtf.

75 MPH winds today. i may or may not have broken the car door. video will be up tomorrow.

last night my mom and i attempted to put up a set of shelves in my room. we ended the night with one bracket fairly firmly screwed on, the other precariously attached, and two large holes in the wall. but it all worked out in the end, the shelves are currently attached securely to the wall, and the holes have been spackled.

i did something very secretive in the backyard just now. all i will say is it involved spray paint, of the pink variety.

it also invloved hubcaps. damn, i gave it away! whatever, liz can complain all she wants, i’m still here for 2 more weeks, and i miss my pink hubcaps.

on a related note, i saw the best license plate today while i was going through a drive-thru.

went home this weekend. friday was a stabby day (movie: the golden compass, dinner: wild noodles). the movie was awesome. the golden compass and the other books in the trilogy have been tied with the harry potter series for years ever since my dad gave me the books for christmas. i obviously loved the books infinity times more, but the movie was pretty darn good. except it ended extremely abruptly, guaranteeing that they are doing the next two books too. which is awesome. the third is my favorite, even though i bawl upon finishing it. so what, i’m a girl.

today was a curls day (movie: i am legend, shopping: record archive). curls, her bf jon, and i saw i am legend at the imax theater, which i haven’t been to in years. it’s amazing. but watching a scary movie in it is a little unnerving, i’m not going to lie. the movie was still fantastic though. and record archive was awesome. i got a cd for myself (under the influence of giants’ self-titled album) and a cd for a christmas present. good day.

i’m back at the ’seo, drove myself in the car that now has a glove compartment that’s velcroed shut and a trunk that takes me 15 minutes to break into. oh, and no hub caps. but it does have three snow tires now. but not four.

There are times in your life where words fail and you say to yourself “This seems like a job for a small white bunny stuffed into a shoe!” Except you don’t have a small white bunny (you have a large gray one) and you’re wearing the shoe and it would be inconvinient to take your shoes off so you look on your computer and find a picture of one and make a card with it and then you write on it and send it.

2. i got a $15 parking ticket this morning. who knew that you can park in the parking lot on weekends without a permit, but not on weekdays. so i moved my car to the visitor’s lot across campus, walked to the student accounts office to pay it, walked to university police to get a temporary parking permit, walked back to my car, and parked it back in the same spot this whole incident started in.

3. i never thought i’d say this, but i actually think i want to see an optometrist. i’ve had enough of my friends and family members making fun of the way i have to squint to see long distances (embarassing photo proof), and i’m sick of looking like an idiot doing it. and my eyes ache after long classes. my pediatrician said i had 20/35 vision, but i feel like it shouldn’t count if i have to friggin’ squint like that to do it. i’d like to be able to see like that without looking like a doofus. is this possible?
