yesterday morning

6:00am - woke up and got ready for my field visit (in other words, i put on fancy clothes and a wig).

6:45am - moved the car from the far parking lot to the loading dock.

6:55am
- ran outside and “moved” the car to avoid getting a ticket for parking illegally in said loading dock.

7:00am - registered for spring semester classes. because i came in with zero credits (word of advice: take APs in high school! you’ll regret it if you don’t!), i register fairly late, barely before most freshmen. for this reason, i could only get into three classes that i need for my degree. that was 10 credits. you need 12 at least to be a full-time student. i was aiming for 15.

7:15am - got in the car and headed off to my field visit with four other girls from my class.

8:00am - arrived at rochester city school #9 without losing any of the cars that were following mine. a student escorted us to the library to wait for the principal.

9:05am - got talked to by the two assistant principals, after waiting in the library for an hour and fifteen minutes. considering that we’re only there until 10:30am, this was kind of disappointing.

9:10am - we paired off and another student and i went to a second grade classroom to observe. we watched them during their music time (no music room, the teacher comes to them), and we did the cha cha slide! this particular field visit made me feel like i was at work again, because we didn’t do a lot of observing — most of the time was spent giving spelling tests, keeping students quiet and on task, and escorting students about the building. but it was cool to see how an urban school works. and when i say urban, i mean urban. 99-100% minorities, and right across from the projects.

11:30am - arrived back at geneseo. i changed and ate lunch with lauren.

12:30pm - took a calc. III test. ugh. let’s not talk about that.

1:45pm - the weekend began and my insane morning was officially over.

ETA: i found two more classes to take, so i’m up to 14 credits! yay! i’ll post my schedule later.

today i…

… failed another calc 3 test. why is calc so hard!? geez.

… opened a money market fund and threw 1K in it.

… realized that since i’ve gone to college i have eaten up my savings. this time last year i had $5,830.79, and now i have $2,791.69. that’s ridiculous. i need a job.

background behind this picture:
so after our last test my professor was handing back our exams, right? i didn’t get mine back, so he spent awhile looking for it and couldn’t find it anywhere. so he check his grade book and was like, “well, i definitely graded it, you got the highest grade in the class!” so he kept looking for it, and finally found it. turns out i printed my name too small, so he thought it was the answer key. hahahahaha.

so this test i made sure i wrote it nice and big. and he wrote “lol” with an arrow! haha we both stood there laughing for like five minutes. not really.

it’s actually saturday

it’s been a kind of stressful weekend, but what’s new?

i failed one of my three tests and passed the other two.

today was really fun, actually! chelsea, kaitlin, emily, jamie, christine and i all went to the geneseo family resturant for dinner (ham and cheese!). afterwards we took a walk around the campus perimeter so that we could go into genesee, the dorm room we’re all living in next year. it’s so nice! i’m super excited. i’m in an 8-person suite with sruthi, megan, janine, lauren, tommi, linsdey, and elly.

and then we went to midnight bowling, which was awesome. i scored a 149, 109, and 138. not bad : )

o icosahedron

i decided i’d ask my magic eight ball icosahedron how i did on the myriad of tests i had this week.

to be specific, the question i asked for each was: “did i do well on my ________ exam?”

CHEM 103: “DON’T COUNT ON IT”

CALC II: “YES”

PSYCH 215: “MOST LIKELY”

MATH 140: “BETTER NOT TELL YOU NOW”

i think the answers are all incorrect, save the last one (because i haven’t actually taken the test yet… lol). i’ll report the icosahedron’s accuracy when i get all my grades in.

chem is ‘noxious

at 4:38pm today i locked my door, grabbed a dr pepper, and opened my chem notebook.

i didn’t unlock the door until 10:26pm.

that’s 5 hours and 38 minutes of studying, not counting the 15 minute break i took at 7:45pm to read a chapter from the subtle knife and to eat a granola bar because my hand hurt and i was hungry.

i better friggin’ pass this chem test. gah.

(and i’m sorry to all the people that knocked on my door that i ignored, and for not answering my phone.)

exam updates

totally schooled that physics exam (let’s pretend that using the verb “school” in an academic sense isn’t as completely lame as it really is).

tomorrow i have my theater final, which is going to be super easy. i didn’t study for either of the other two tests, and i got an 88 on both. this final is the same length as the other two tests, isn’t cumulative, and is weighted exactly the same. hooray.

friday is my calculus final. considering that my exam scores were 94, 95, and 96 (yes, in that order), i’m not too worried. math is easy.

and monday is the dreaded anthropology final. oh my god i’m not going to do well on that one. luckily it’s not cumulative. but it’s still a mad hard class (for me). we’ll see.

college 101

1. i got a 94 on my physics test! this is very very good, since i seriously got the lowest possible passing grade on my last test (69.5). my teacher drops the lowest score, so i’m trying super hard to do well on the remaining tests.

2. i’m sick, again. college has like stabbed my immune system or something, seriously. i’ve been at geneseo for two months, and i’ve been sick twice. UGH.

3. i finally met with my advisor and worked out what classes i’m taking next semester: MATH 222 (calc II), CHEM 103, PSYC 215 (for my major), INTD 203 (for my major), and MATH 140 (for my major). this should be fun. i’ve worked out my schedule would be, and my earliest class will be calc at 8:30! that’s an hour earlier than i have to get up now, ugh. but i’m done by 11:20 on TR, 1:20 on WF, and 5:30 on M (due to my chem lab). i guess it won’t be too bad. although i am taking two more credits than last semester…

college exams geneseo schedule ugh

wednesday

sooooo i got a 92 on my last econ test. it was the second to last test of the year, and it was the first one that i got an A on. which was very good, because it bumped my C up to a B. barely. i actually studied for the next test (which is tomorrow), and if i get a 79 or above, i’ll keep my B. hence why i studied.

we were supposed to have mentoring club today, but the middle school’s cafeteria flooded or something ridikkulus like that, so it was cancelled. and it was game day, so i was very sad. i haven’t played scrabble in so long, i’m feeling deprived. i don’t do the jumble for fun you know (that’s a lie), it’s good scrabble practice.
