senior skip day

my senior skip day followed the schedule to a T. but for your convenience, i will elaborate on the vague sections:

9:30-2:30 PM… doing whatever the hell i want!
i interneted (i updated my facebook status to: lanni is a senior, and therefore skipping), watched a movie that i found under the futon, listened to cds on the stereo, rode my bike around the block until i got bored out of my mind, flipped through the new tv guide and entertainment weekly, and read harry potter. it was pretty much amazing.

2:50-6:00 PM… work.
oh my god it was so nice out today. like whoa, it was awesome. we went outside and i played catch and turned a jump rope for a really long time, and i didn’t even step in a mud puddle (a first for me). and then we all got popsicles from the freezer. and we played skipbo. and there weren’t many kids and they were well behaved. and i left on time for the first time in awhile (but only because i was riding my bike home).

6:20-12:00 AM… friday things, duh!
i picked up stabby after i got home from work, and brought liz with me. we went to applebee’s for dinner. and then coldstone for dessert, because allison and rosalie were working. rosalie rang me up, i was paying for liz’s and my ice cream, and i paid $3.47, and considering my milkshake cost $3.99, this was very cool. after talking with them for awhile we got in the car and drove aimlessly around (we did the thing where when i got to an intersection, stabby would tell me which way to go). we passed through rush and mendon and ended up in honeyoe falls. stabby knew where we were (luckily) and we made it home before her curfew at 10, but only after stopping at the baseball park to see the results of the big game against sutherland (we lost, 4 to 7).

funny ha ha

dinah and i went to u of r to watch michael ian black perform, he’s on tv and such, he’s a comedian. it was a pretty funny show, he’s really good at those long pauses accompanied with a straight face, which i adore (i.e. jim halpert). turns out he is dine’s cousin, but security was unreasonably tight after the show, so she couldn’t say hi or anything.

i am SO glad it’s the weekend. icons should be finished tomorrow.

oh, and happy groundhog’s day! phil saw his shadow today, spring’s a-coming!

i like lists

several things to note today:

(1) like i said yesterday, i was admitted to brockport, and i got another letter about it today. seems that they invite 60 freshmen students a year to the delta college, which appears to be a college-within-a-college. it supposed to be leadership and group work based with a lot of focus on your major, once you choose it. i want to talk to some people at work first though, since all the staff that isn’t in my school goes there. they pro’ly can tell me more about it.

(2) i think i may need glasses. for distances. i squint too much, it’s starting to give me headaches. my physics teacher, after noticing me squinting from the back row, informed me that, “you know alanna, awhile back they invented these glass things you put over your eyes to help you see better. i think they’re called glasses.”

(3) i am totally getting better at dodgeball. when we played yesterday, the teams weren’t even so i played on one side, yet we completely creamed the other side fairly quickly. so i thought i’d use my counselor power to help the other team get a basket (usually a task i leave for a male counselor, but there weren’t any), for only counselors can cross the line in order to help the other team. but the crazy part was, i got it in, first try. but then, unfortunetly, it turned into the game that would never end.

(4) tonight stabby, dinah, rosalie, allison and i went to pitts pla and had dinner at applebee’s, and then went to see night at the museum. dinner was good, movie was cheesy yet enjoyable. overall a good night, except driving at night in the dark when it’s pouring and really foggy was totally a new experience for me. we got home at like 12:15, so i’m going to go ahead and backdate this. laters.

a nice friday

’twas the last day of school before break today. that meant i had a buttload of tests (yes, that included an econ test). but because it was friday, i didn’t mind so much. stabby gave me a rubik’s cube for christmas, so i had some fun with that. i haven’t solved it yet, but i’m getting there.

and at work we had 19 kids, which is friggin’ amazing. i spent most of the time making pacman-themed melti-beads and playing catch with a pink nerf football. plus a lot of kids brought gifts for the other counselors and i, so we had a good time trading candy, and pawning off the crappy stuff to the kids.

it’s friday night

ah, fridays. ah, fridays that are day fives; fridays that i have no work on; fridays that i have absolutely nothing in particular to do except contemplate whether or not i’ll fill out my college apps or maybe even write my essay.

and after informing my mother that the age to get piercings in nys is actually 16, she said i can do whatever i want (after informing me of the risks, of course). so this is most excellent. in theory i’d love to go out a get an industrial, but i don’t think that would sit well with my dad, or my mom. but you never know.
