things i did this weekend

(1) i waited in line for four and a half hours in order to purchase a bus ticket for my suitemate lauren, who couldn’t stand in line as she’s away for the weekend. man, she owes me!

(2) my dad and i found a multicache that we attempted to find two times in the past, which was very satisfying.

(3) we got stared at by a llama.

(4) we also did some light rock climbing and climbed to the bottom of the fallbrook falls gorge. let me just say, going down is a lot easier than going up. man, today my arms are really realy sore.

(5) and today i didn’t break my budget at the grocery store. and i spent $17 in coins! hahaha i’m obnoxious.

a few updates

(1) i’m back at geneseo, as fall break ends today. when i got here i discovered that my key card was mysteriously deactivated, something that i unfortunately experienced last year too. sucks not being able to get in your dorm, especially when you have errands to run. luckily i was able to get a replacement because it’s a weekday, not like last time when it was a friday night. that was terrible.

(2) my mom found our GPS! a day after i bought a new one. *headdesk*

(3) i redyed my hair on saturday. it’s super bright. my roommates claim it’s brighter than it has ever been before… dun dun dun.

geocache 9

n1372800255_30185718_420

just one today. my dad and i tried for three, but one’s coordinates were too off to find it, and the other one was at the bottom of the quarry, which is a bit too exciting for us.

so yes, today was a good day, because i did not fall in a gorge.

although it was a very pretty gorge. some may say it was a gorgeous gorge. oh my, i am very sorry about that.

geocaching is awesome

okay, so i got antsy and couldn’t wait until saturday to start geocaching, so i did one today on campus! i found this microcache because it’s basically across the street from my dorm. and when i say basically, i mean i can actually see the hiding spot from my window. haha. i had to find one that i wouldn’t need a GPS for, and this one fit the bill perfectly.

i went looking for it with my suitemate lindsey, but after searching for quite awhile, we just couldn’t find it. using the hints in the cache description and the google map, i deduced that it was by the tennis courts, but we searched all over the area and didn’t uncover it. later i emailed the person that originally hid the cache, and she gave me a few hints that helped me find it. i actually had looked in the place it’s hidden, but i guess i didn’t look hard enough!

that’s the microcache and the logbook.

geocaching

recently my math teacher told our class about something i have become really interested in, but haven’t been able to try yet — geocaching. basically, it’s hide and seek for adults. and there’s “treasure.”

you go on the geocaching website and find a cache (basically a container with a log and some stuff in it) you want to look for. they give you GPS coordinates and you put them in a GPS. then you find the cache! usually they’re in parks and stuff, so you get to hike around and find it. this is why i like the idea — i love hiking, but i just can’t stand hiking for no purpose.

there’s a cache right by my house (there are actually several), and i want to try to find it this weekend. the problem is, i don’t have a GPS. and i’m not sure i want to shell out more than a hundred bucks for one. anyone know if i can like rent one? or will the one my dad has for his car work?

dad: you want to do this with me? i think it would be fun, and you can take photos and stuff too!
