happy halloween!

yeah, halloween really isn’t that exciting when you’re in college. wait, let me rephrase that — halloween really isn’t that exciting when you’re in college and you don’t drink.

anyways, i dressed up as jim halpert again for halloween. my third time. last year and the year before i was a three-hole punch version of lan.

ETA: suite halloween photos are up! kaitlin took all these, as my camera battery was dead.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

happy halloween

i wore my costume to school today, and it was a big hit with the in-crowd. unfortunately, that crowd is limited to a select few, so i had to explain it quite often, but it was worth it to have the best costume ever.

“i’m a three-hole punch version of lan. ’cause you can have me either way — plain white lan, or three-hole punch.”

kid: lanni, what are you supposed to be? a dalmation?
lan: yes.

other kid: lanni, are you a dice?!
lan: yes.

another kid: lanni, are you dressed like a snowman?
lan: yes.

and one last kid: lanni, your costume is lame.
lan: yes.

perfect.

you want to hear a terrible poem i found in a children’s book of songs and poems (written in the 90s)?
into the family drinking well,
william pushed his sister nell,
she’s still there, because it kilt ‘er—
and now we have to buy a filter.

halloween on oct. 21

so today was the brighton rec halloween party, and i was there doing the same thing i’ve done for 5 years straight, but this year i was paid! now that i’m on the payroll as an employee of brighton rec, i now get paid for working at the special events i’ve volunteered at since 7th grade. this is very cool. so this year i ran a table in arts-n-crafts making pumpkins (with legs and hats) out of construction paper. the kids loved it. there were some very cute costumes this year, my favorite being a homemade one. a kid had taken a white round-top trash can and spray painted the top silver and glued foam shapes on it so that he looked exactly like… R2-D2! it was amazing. i wish i was that brilliant when i was a kid. i even have the best R2 whistle. sounds just like him. that’s actually the only impression of anything that i can do. the only one.

and after the party my dad and liz and i finally finished the front yard landscaping. we resized a garden on the side (i made a very nice curve out of bricks), we leveled the new lawn (the entire thing!) and then planted grass seed there and in the front part of the old garden that is no longer garden. the grass is only temporary, we’ll have to replant it next year because it probably won’t last the winter. i just realized how incredibly lame it is to talk about planting grass.

oh, and i think i want to go to borders tomorrow. i’ve been meaning to pick up the end (of teh unfortunate events series), but i keep forgeting. the original plan was to stop by on oct. 13 (the release date), but i of course forgotted.

happy halloween!

work was good. friday’s mean we order out, which is also good because i’m pretty sure we were all out of sandwich meat. oh wait, i think there’s so spam in the fridge from a few weeks ago. hmm, how long does spam stay good? i suppose the answer to that question shall be found out on monday.

it was halloween at camp today, so the kids wore costumes. i wore my captain’s hat (not on purpose though, i just decided to wear it today), which worked out nicely because jake dressed as a pirate and i was able to pass as a pirate captain. the kids couldn’t wear masks (due to some camper’s mom’s opinions of halloween), which disappointed many of the kids, but they still had fun. i think.

i’m ’bout to leave with curls to see pulp fiction. laters.

liz and i dressed as the blues brothers for halloween. and then we went to steve’s and accompanied him and his 3 friends (all named steve oddly enough) trick-or-treating. now, lots of people loved the adorable 11-year-olds in their monster costumes, but everyone adored my and liz’s costumes and we got many requests to sing/dance (which we turned down as we hurried away). some just said, “hey, it’s jake and elwood!” or “whoa, the blues brothers!” or simply, “sweet costumes!” in short, i have a ton of candy now, and i got a stomachache.

awesomeness halloween holidays

oh no you didn’t!

oh. my. gosh. great day. let me start from the beginning, and when i say the beginning, i mean the beginning. i woke up at 5:30am. on a saturday. yeah, i’m telling the truth. i am still amazed that i did it. okay, i did go to bed at 7:30 (with my shoes still on), but i don’t want to talk about that. let’s just say, everything after my happy post yesterday was not so happy. but anyways, i got up really really early. at 6:30 my dad took me to pick up kate at her house because we were going to see the sunrise. obviously to film it. duh. so we got to the school and set up across the street by the jewish center. we ate some breakfast, played some cards, got some footage , etc. but then we noticed something: it was slightly raining. so we acted cool, and waited for a bit. but then it just started raining harder. we didn’t want to leave yet because we were sure sure that the sun was coming up and we didn’t want to miss it. 20 minutes later we’re in my dad’s car driving home, soaked, and sunless. the sun never did come up today…

then at 9:45 we went to brighton rec to volunteer at the kids halloween party. i manned the games the whole time, liz and kate floated between a few activities. the kids were so adorable, as usual. some of them were mad annoying though. but that’s kids for you.

later my mom picked us up and we got some lunch. then we went home and played settlers of catan. and saw my dad off. he left for brazil today and won’t be back for a week! i’m going to miss his witty remarks and overall sense of style… so yes, i’m sad. later we ordered a pizza and played more settlers. and watched the holy grail for the nth time. and then corey came over. and etc. now i’m tired and i want to go to bed. i’ve been up for many many hours.

The Day After Halloween.

photoSo this is what Katie and I looked like on Halloween. The picture is really crappy, but you can still get the idea of what we are wearing.

Today I cleaned my room! For real. It is spotless now. Hopefully my dad can figure out what happened to my fonts. Font are my life. I’d die without them. I’m slowly dying right now. It’s not a big deal if you think about it, it’s just really really annoying.

I’ve eaten so much Halloween candy that I’m gonna puke. Just kidding.

This is Halloween.

Halloween was a blast! I went over to Katie’s at around 2. We went to Tops in our costumes and chatted with Kelly. We bought some candy but we ended up chucking it at each other on the walk back because we didn’t want to eat too much before trick-or-treating. We started at around 5:30 when the sun went down and got done with her street at 6ish. We got a ton of candy. Then we drove over to the Foley’s house, friends of Katie’s family, and went trick-or-treating there, in the ghetto. We got a bunch more candy. We watched TV and etc. and now I’m home. Nothing really special, but nothing ultra-horrible happened either. It was just fun. I took a few pictures of Katie and I and I’ll post them later.

I have decided that I won’t use my computer until I have cleaned my room and it is fixed. It’s just too frustrating. I can’t read freaking anything on the screen and it’s getting on my nerves. Right now I’m on the downstairs Mac. I guess I’ll have to clean my room tomorrow, because the old template is saved on that computer and without it I guess you’re eyes will just have to deal.

This lack of fonts thing is totally getting on my freaking nerves!

I can’t wait to go trick-or-treating with Katie in the ghetto. I love candy.
