super awesome day (for one of the first times this semester, so sorry if this post is braggy).

(1) i totally rocked my christopher columbus lesson plan presentation this morning! i was really nervous because it’s my first time writing a lesson plan, and my first time “teaching” one. but i felt pretty at ease throughout the lesson, the same sort of feeling i have when i explain gym games or craft projects at work. for my overall grade on the lesson i got an A, which is really awesome.

and to top it all off, my professor talked to me afterwards and said my lesson plan was “exceptionally well-done.” he asked me where i went last year, i said that i wasn’t a transfer, and he was surprised. apparently other schools start working on lesson plans freshman year, so when they transfer here they are ahead in that area. he actually said my lesson plan was teacher- or student teacher-level. that’s fresh.

(2) i finally figured out the calc proof i’ve been working on since last monday! a two page long proof, finished a half an hour before i had to leave for class. man, that was one glorious proof, once i figured it out.

(3) the chuck season premiere was tonight! for my and your reference, my shows for this year are as follows: the office, 30 rock, pushing daisies, house, bones, ncis, and chuck. so the only premieres i have left are pushing daisies on wednesday and 30 rock on october 30th. six hours of tv a week. phew!

(4) i think i’m going to spend tomorrow afternoon tagging my pre-wordpress and textpattern posts. but there are 781 of said posts, so it may take a few days. wish me luck!

(6) The Abstract Art Titlegenerator. this can seriously be used for everything, and can be quite entertaining to reload over and over.

(7) File2HD. download any file from any site. i use it to yoink music on myspace pages that isn’t available for download.

today was spent at four of the roc city’s finest hangouts:

(1) world hair. i got a haircut, obvs.

(2) utter clutter. your basic thrift shop, but messier. it’s owned by a lady named sara that likes to give free stuff to you on your birthday if you make friends with her. and i do advise that you do, because she’s been known to overcharge rude people and undercharge people she likes : )

(3) aaron’s alley. a hippie shop that sells… hippie stuff. i got a new tie-dye, liz got new hemp bracelets. i actually spent most of the time on the floor looking through boxes of tie-dye and then i spent even more time refolding the shirts. someone actually thought i worked there.

(4) record archive. everyone knows this is my favorite hangout of all hangouts. just this week i’ve been there twice and i’ve bought nine new albums. today they were filming their new tv commerical, and they taped liz and i singing the record archive jingle and laughing our heads off. it was a good time.

TWO MORE DAYS ‘TIL GENESEO!

(1) tomorrow is the last day of camp! wow, i can’t believe the summer is over. oh, that means evaluations are tomorrow. i never mentioned what i got on my last one, mostly because i wasn’t happy with it, as it was the worst evaluation i’ve ever received (i got three 2s). last summer i got one 2 on my first eval and all 1s on my final eval. 2 is “meets camp standards,” 1 is “exceeds camp standards,” if you were wondering.

(2) this week is olympic week at work, and my team is totally in first place. my team has taken the gold every summer i’ve worked, mostly because i always end up with a stacked team somehow. not that i’m complaining ; )

(3) tomorrow is our end-of-the-summer party, which will of course be super fun. we earned enough money via a can and bottle drive to buy two pizzas and enough snacks and drinks to feed an army. or at least an army of small children.

(4) last night was the brighton rec. staff party, which was fairly uneventful as usual. i actually had to host it, as becky (the director) and kasey (the assistant director) both had obligations, and i am apparently third-in-command at brighton rec.

(5) i went to the midnight release of tropic thunder on tuesday, bringing my movie total for 2008 to 85!

(6) i go back to school in nine days. NINE DAYS. where the hell has the summer gone?

interrupt my very important plans and die a slow and painful death.

3 things i did tonight:

(1) bummed around pittsford plaza with stabby, jon, and abby’s sister cat. we had dinner at applebees, hung out in barnes and noble, and hit up wegmans. it was a pretty swell time.

(2) saw the dark knight. expect a separate post about it tomorrow, but for now: OH MY GOD.

(3) got pulled over by a brighton cop after dropping jon off. i had no idea if i was speeding or not, because the dashboard lights don’t work anymore. so when he asked me, “do you know why i pulled you over?” i was truthfully able to answer no. turns out it’s not just my dashboard lights that don’t work — my tail-lights are out of commission too. so i got my first ticket tonight. and it wasn’t even my fault. fucking dentmobile.

the three things that take up the majority of my life at this point of the year:

(1) work (40 hours per week)
camp is going swell. the staff is doing pretty good, but it still feels weird telling them what to do (”set up the slip-n-slide!”) or what not to do (”don’t chuck that kickball at that kid!”). i also have the sneaking suspision that they are the cause of the boondoggle shortage our camp is facing. i had to hide the boondoggle because it’s half gone, and it’s on the second week. so yeah, not good. um, the kids themselves are awesome, despite the fact that i’m 89% sure at least half of them are certifiably INSANE. but it’s not like that’s new news.

(2) sleeping (45 hours per week)
sleeping is nice.

(3) movies (10 hours per week)
i have watched 70 new movies this year, 10 so far this month. this doesn’t include the fact that i obsessively rewatch my favorites (yesterday i watched mulan and batman begins, for example). hahaha i think i’m certifiably insane also.

(1) camp starts tomorrow! i’m half super nervous, half super psyched.

(2) someone stole the scooter license plate, and the dentmobile is at the mechanic. so i have to either ride my bike tomorrow or get a ride. i thought my days of being dependent were over! oh well.

(3) if you see me try to purchase a CD in the near future, please slap me or something. too many new CDs lately. i have acquired 26 in the last three weeks, 4 just today. not good.

(4) there is less than a month until breaking dawn, the final twilight novel is released (august 2nd)!!! i just finished rereading the series this afternoon, and it’s making me very antsy. when i read these books i get unnaturally caught up in them. it seriously takes me weeks after finishing them to get them out of my mind. any down time i have is spent thinking about them, i’m not even kidding. note to self: calm the hell down and get your OCD under control.

i’m officially a full-time employee of the brighton central school district. well, for the rest of the year at least. thirteen more days of telling kids to be quiet, grading papers while they’re at music or gym, reading countless dr. seuss books to the class, playing math “games,” being attacked by swarms of brighton rec kids, and just having fun.

i had a pretty swell memorial day weekend. highlights:
- i got to see stevie on sunday! i didn’t even know he was coming back until i got to a party at my aunt and uncle’s house and he was there! and now would be a good time for a shout-out to all the schlitzer’s who read this — hey guys.
- i saw two movies in theaters with jon this weekend — forgetting sarah marshall and speedracer. both were equally excellent.
- i “cleaned” my room. cleaned is in quotes because, i’m not going to lie, it wasn’t dirty to begin with. yet i am still able to find ways to tidy up. life is grand!
- my debit card is hidden (to prevent me from overspending, summer is killing me already!).
- my hair is repinked.
