things i did this weekend

(1) i waited in line for four and a half hours in order to purchase a bus ticket for my suitemate lauren, who couldn’t stand in line as she’s away for the weekend. man, she owes me!

(2) my dad and i found a multicache that we attempted to find two times in the past, which was very satisfying.

(3) we got stared at by a llama.

(4) we also did some light rock climbing and climbed to the bottom of the fallbrook falls gorge. let me just say, going down is a lot easier than going up. man, today my arms are really realy sore.

(5) and today i didn’t break my budget at the grocery store. and i spent $17 in coins! hahaha i’m obnoxious.

suit up

today i watched thirteen episodes of how i met your mother. oh, i never mentioned that i spent $136 on four seasons of HIMYM? must have slipped my compulsive impulse-buying mind.

that is all.

today i…

… failed another calc 3 test. why is calc so hard!? geez.

… opened a money market fund and threw 1K in it.

… realized that since i’ve gone to college i have eaten up my savings. this time last year i had $5,830.79, and now i have $2,791.69. that’s ridiculous. i need a job.

hey you guys

well i have been stuck on “epic fail” for the past few days.

(1) yesterday was obvs “let’s all do things that creep miss m out” day at FRES. it all started out when a boy walked into the room in the morning with a ginormous beetle on him. i almost jumped onto a table, i swear. a few minutes later, a girl walks in, her previously very long hair now cut short. i said, “cute haircut!” and she came over to me, pulled out a shoebox from her backback, and proceeded to show me a box full of her hair. A BOX FULL OF HER HAIR. soooooooo effing creepy. the teacher and i told her she had to put it in her locker, half for sanitary reasons, and half because we were so creeped out. and to top it all off a girl lost her tooth after recess. and we all know how much i hate seeing: a) loose teeth, b) teeth not inside mouths, c) places were teeth used to be but aren’t any longer, and d) blood. ew.

(2) i’ve been constantly worrying about money lately. like to extreme proportions. but i feel it’s justified. when i started high school i started saving my money. when i graduated high school, i had saved around $6,000. now that i have recently finished my first year of college, i have around $3,500. WTF WAS I DOING ALL YEAR? i’m really mad at myself right now. so mad that i bought $127 worth of shoes this morning.

(3) why are kids so keen to point out every single one of your faults CONSTANTLY? it’s seriously driving me insane. i know why i suck, guys! i don’t need to be reminded! ETA: although today the kids gave the counselors awards, and i got “most awesome pink haired counselor.” very cute : )

paper or plastic

i think i spent more money this weekend than i did the entire month of february. i think this is a fairly good reason to not go home to rochester too often.

friday: miscellaneous rochester outings
- spent $22 on a haircut at world hair
- spent $0 at utter clutter on broken rotary phone in seafoam blue (had a coupon)
- spent $5 to attend the hoops for hillside game (the faculty basketball game at my high school)
- spent $15 on dinner at red robin with liz
- spent $10 on a movie ticket to see be kind rewind with abby and her roommate liv

saturday: hung out with stabby and liv
- spent $15 on dinner at mac grill
- spent $3 at target to get some cute eco-safe bags
- spent $10 at wegmans to get a new laundry hamper
- spent $10 on a movie ticket to see penelope

sunday: went to the mall with my roommate megan and my friend janine
- spent $1 at the icing on 3 headbands that were on clearance
- spent $5 on lunch at arby’s
- spent $11 at american eagle (what?) on a neon pink belt
- spent $15 at old navy on a pair of blue plaid shorts

i’m not even going to add that up, it’ll make me too depressed. at least i had an awesome weekend!

shopping will be my downfall

converse chuck taylor all-star lo-tops in ‘magenta haze,’ to replace my ratty teal ones: $41.99

hot pink samsung SCH-U740 cellphone case with stars: $9.99

lucite heart necklace to replace the one i wear every day, because the paint is chipping off: $14.99

the aquabats logo sticker: $2.25

they might be giants sticker (3 pack): $5.00

GRAND TOTAL: $74.22! oh my god, this needs to stop, NOW. i can’t make it through college if i have another week like this. although i’d like to mention that it isn’t my fault my shoes crapped out on me. or that my calc teacher mentioned that it would be cool if my phone was pink much like my hair and bag is. or that i have a sticker-collecting addiction (fueled by the knowledge that i will own a car by this time next year, maybe).

my bank’s in boston, actually

i JUST realized that i have been losing money all these years and i didn’t even notice. i was under the impression that my bank refunds atm fees, so i go to any atm i want to take out money every week. but after looking at my statement (something i don’t do very often, you see), i found that my bank does refund the fees, but only up to five dollars. considering i take twenty dollars out a week for spending money, and it’s two bucks a transaction, that means i’ve been paying eight dollars and getting five refunded. three bucks a month for transfer fees. that’s pro’ly fifty bucks a year if you note the numerous times when i’ve gone to the atm more than once a week. grr. well, i won’t be doing that anymore. there’s one bank that i can go to that won’t take a fee, so it looks like i’ll be withdrawing eighty bucks once a month from a bank who’s name i can’t seem to ever remember.

on a seperate note, what’s a dividend? every month i get five bucks or so and it says “Deposit Dividend Earned, Annual Percentage Yield Earned 1.75% for 30 Days.” are they actually giving me money for no reason?
