CAKE!

IMG_3190

the CAKE concert was last night! oh man, i think it was one of the best shows i’ve been to, ever. they are SO amazing live! like, maybe ever better than on their records. plus they’re in the “big five,” which is just my top five bands in no specific order (they might be giants, mc lars, atom and his package, the aquabats, and cake).

IMG_3182

i went with liz, curls, and alexa. and guess who we saw there? torch! from pinewood! with the four of us there, it was a mini pinewood reunion : )

they played some of my favorites, and of course closed with the best of the best — short skirt / long jacket! highlights included comfort eagle (”he is calling you DUDE!”), the distance, wheels, comanche, stickshifts and safetybelts, frank sinatra, guitar, love you madly, arco arena, and never there. jeez, now that i think about it, every single song was amazing.

also, best photo ever:

and i caught “short skirt / long jacket” on camera! sounds better in real life though.

geocache 9

n1372800255_30185718_420

just one today. my dad and i tried for three, but one’s coordinates were too off to find it, and the other one was at the bottom of the quarry, which is a bit too exciting for us.

so yes, today was a good day, because i did not fall in a gorge.

IMG_3142

although it was a very pretty gorge. some may say it was a gorgeous gorge. oh my, i am very sorry about that.

mc lars at record archive

IMG_3106

basically, i want to marry lars. stabby and i went to record archive at 4:45ish and i bought five bajillion cd’s (read: eight). lars arrived around 5:00ish, and we had lots of time to chat and such. we talked about atom and his package, because lars saw the pins i have on my bag. you see, aahp is like my second favorite band ever, so lars and i were able to go on and on about how amazing atom is. and he told me that he contributed a song to an aahp tribute album that’ll be released next month! so awesome.

IMG_3111

he also signed my ipod. he added the “j/k!” when i mentioned i don’t steal music, instead i shop at record archive. lol. oh, and he signed some monopoly money i had in my wallet. that makes like forty items i own that are now signed by lars. lolz.

IMG_3107

and he “played” a set, too! i put that in quotes, because i’m not 100% sure that’s what it was. you see, he forgot to bring his laptop (although he did bring his band). so we were treated to an a cappella version of mc lars. definitely a new experience for everyone involved…

in other words, it was a very good time! after the show we talked again and he mentioned that he really liked the websites i’ve designed, and told me to keep being awesome. oh man, i love your mc lars.

the entire town lost power last night at midnight, due to high winds.

so of course that meant i couldn’t sleep, everything was too exciting! the generator kicked in after a minute after the power went out, turning the hallway lights on and nothing else. so our suite (minus the strep kids) gathered in the common room so we could see.

we had already spent most of the night in the common room, complaining about the wind, creepily watching all the people that had gone outside to experience the storm, basically being too hyper for our own good. i actually ended up outside at one point, to do several things i won’t mention because they’ll make me seem more insane.

when the power went out, we heard some yelling outside, so we of course had to go investigate. we found a mob of students yelling and following a boy holding a tree branch above his head. so we joined the mob.

we ended up walking all over campus, following the tree (FOLLOW THE TREE!). we went up to main street first and crowded around the center fountain. the boy with the tree climbed the statue and they tried to attach the tree to the top, but the university police arrived and ordered them get off of the statue and made us all get on the sidewalk. we then followed the tree to the other side of campus, in order to wake up everyone in the dorms so they could join us. on the way over we ended up having our path blocked several times by police cruisers, but we walked right past. turns out there’s nothing they can really do about 1,000 students walking around campus at two in the morning in the pitch black (no street lights!).

basically, we woke up the entire campus. and yes, i got to sleep after 3:00am. and yes, i had to get up at 7:00am. ah, college.

09.08.08- 09.14.08

okay, so at the beginning of the summer i bought my first moleskine (the other post is here), as it seems everyone and their mother on the lj organizers comm have them. i adored it at first, but certain things got to me (basically, i hated feeling compelled to make it pretty), and when school came around, i switched to a planner that i wouldn’t need to decorate if i didn’t feel like it. i’m pretty happy with it so far.
