i’m a terrible person

today i kicked a squirrel on my way back from calc. it was a complete accident, as i was looking through my bag for my ipod, but it was traumatizing nonetheless. worse than the time i accidentally kicked that chicken.

i wasn’t sure if i should laugh or cry, so i played it off like i didn’t notice. looking back on that, i probably should have at least looked a bit concerned, since the squirrel did grunt upon impact and all.

got to love college

so i just went to go shut the door to the suite before i went to bed, right? and who do you think is knocking at the door next door? five boys dressed in all black with ski-masks on, holding some sort of weapons, of course. i said, “hello,” they nodded, and i proceeded to bed.

7 random links

haven’t done any random linkage posts in awhile, so here you go.

(1) Kermit and Christian Bale: Separated At Birth? a really hilarious/awesome/weird ONTD post.

(2) The Awesomer. “awesome stuff,” as their tagline states.

(3) i am neurotic. a collection of neuroses people send in. a few of mine have been on there, and one is currently on the homepage.

(4) FFFFOUND! image bookmarking. pretty much a collection of awesome images found across the interwebs, presented in a dynamic way that can keep you looking around the site for hours.

(5) (The Customer Is) Not Always Right. hilarious quotes from the workplace involving customers that aren’t exactly the brightest crayons in the box.

(6) The Abstract Art Titlegenerator. this can seriously be used for everything, and can be quite entertaining to reload over and over.

(7) File2HD. download any file from any site. i use it to yoink music on myspace pages that isn’t available for download.

word of advice

word of advice: if your professor has a ridikkulus polish accent, don’t take calculus 3 with him in the morning, because when he says “vector,” you are going to think he said “breakfast,” and you’ll repeatedly be reminded that you didn’t have any and you wish you had.

insane in the membrane

today i realized something: the more i write papers, the more insane i become. check it out:

from my descriptive paper, in which i wrote about my lost panda key.
I was able to come up with several other theories, but they all seemed to be the plots of poorly written horror movies (the panda key never existed to begin with, my stalker ex-boyfriend stole it and is going to stab me with it the next time he sees me, et cetera). I have come to accept the fact that the panda key will never be found, seen by my payment of twenty dollars to the Student Life Office at Geneseo.

from my informational paper, in which i wrote about scooters.
When I first got my scooter, I set aside a whole weekend to learn how to ride it. My dad took me to Parking Lot Q in the MCC parking lot (we live across the street), handed me the helmet, told me to sit on the seat, and turned the scooter on. I freaked out, afraid that I would tip over, or that I would be able to stop, or that I was going to die a painful and fiery death. After remembering how to breathe, I slowly pulled the clutch towards me, and found myself not tipped over, not springing forward at tremendous speeds, and not dead. In short, it was fantastic.

from my comparison paper, in which i wrote about rotary phones versus cell phones.
Cellular phones, on the other hand, are not so beneficial. First of all, style can be a big problem. To get a cool looking phone, you have to scrape together a couple of month’s worth of your paycheck, and then maybe sell an organ on the black market or something. And if you are able to do that, you are stuck with this flimsy piece of plastic that will be destroyed if you drop it, sit on it, put it in the wash, or run over it with your car. If any of those things happened to a rotary phone, more damage would occur to the floor, your butt, the washing machine, or your car tire, than would happen to your telephone.

we like to rock the party

so i’ve been at FRES this week, in the same classroom as last week. it’s looking to be a long-term position. well, if a few weeks counts as being long term.

today was field day, which i vaguely recall from my elementary years as being the best friggin’ day ever. but it’s not really field “day” anymore, it’s now just field “hour and a half.” instead of each grade having an entire day to do fun stuff, all three grades do it on the same day. well whatever, it was still fun. and saying “do your work or you’ll have to sit out during field day” is a great motivation tool.

fun fact of the day:
ever wonder what continent new zealand is part of? i know i did. you see, on the 3rd grade atlas in my classroom, all the countries are colored to indicate the continent they belong to, all except new zealand. it was gray. so i asked my dad, and even he didn’t know.

the answer? it belongs to a continent called “zealandia.” turns out that there aren’t just 7 continents, there are other smaller ones too. this particular one seems very small because almost all of it is underwater. who knew?

P.S. OBAMA ‘08 FTW!

planner

i’m pretty insane about keeping up my planner, more so than usual (apparently). i was flipping through it when i noticed something peculiar — my handwriting has gotten dangerously tiny (albeit neater)! while i do ike that it’s neat, i don’t like that it’s so boring to look at. i like cute scripty handwriting, something i can’t do (for the same reason that i’m obsessively organized). oh well.

sorry for the crappy scans, the setting for my current scanner are whack.

sorry

Dear Liz,
Your hamster escaped. Long story short, Dad now knows you have a secret hamster, and it’s back in the box. Oh, and Dad woke me up at six in the morning while he cornered said hamster in his room with a shoe box.
Love,
Lan
