mc lars at record archive

IMG_3106

basically, i want to marry lars. stabby and i went to record archive at 4:45ish and i bought five bajillion cd’s (read: eight). lars arrived around 5:00ish, and we had lots of time to chat and such. we talked about atom and his package, because lars saw the pins i have on my bag. you see, aahp is like my second favorite band ever, so lars and i were able to go on and on about how amazing atom is. and he told me that he contributed a song to an aahp tribute album that’ll be released next month! so awesome.

IMG_3111

he also signed my ipod. he added the “j/k!” when i mentioned i don’t steal music, instead i shop at record archive. lol. oh, and he signed some monopoly money i had in my wallet. that makes like forty items i own that are now signed by lars. lolz.

IMG_3107

and he “played” a set, too! i put that in quotes, because i’m not 100% sure that’s what it was. you see, he forgot to bring his laptop (although he did bring his band). so we were treated to an a cappella version of mc lars. definitely a new experience for everyone involved…

in other words, it was a very good time! after the show we talked again and he mentioned that he really liked the websites i’ve designed, and told me to keep being awesome. oh man, i love your mc lars.

mc lars

okay, so no one will go with me to the mc lars show on saturday (how can i be the only person i know that loves this man so much?). but he will also be visiting record archive the same afternoon, so i can see him then at least. plus i haven’t been in like two weeks, which is unacceptable. but i’ll need a ride back from the ’seo…

haha and mc lars is looking for a web designer! i emailed him, but i doubt i’ll get a response. still worth giving it a stab!

musically wonderful things

so here’s the dealio (the dealio of life). mc lars promised he’d be back in the roc sometime in august or september, and i guess he is playing at RIT on saturday, september 20th. the problemo with this is that you can’t buy tickets online, you have to go to the “gordon field house box office” to get the tickets.

questions:
1. liz, you in? curls, you too?
2. mom, can you buy some tickets? they are $15, $12 if you can prove you’re an alumnus.

LIZ! we are slightly in the record archive commercial!

roc city

today was spent at four of the roc city’s finest hangouts:

(1) world hair. i got a haircut, obvs.

(2) utter clutter. your basic thrift shop, but messier. it’s owned by a lady named sara that likes to give free stuff to you on your birthday if you make friends with her. and i do advise that you do, because she’s been known to overcharge rude people and undercharge people she likes : )

(3) aaron’s alley. a hippie shop that sells… hippie stuff. i got a new tie-dye, liz got new hemp bracelets. i actually spent most of the time on the floor looking through boxes of tie-dye and then i spent even more time refolding the shirts. someone actually thought i worked there.

(4) record archive. everyone knows this is my favorite hangout of all hangouts. just this week i’ve been there twice and i’ve bought nine new albums. today they were filming their new tv commerical, and they taped liz and i singing the record archive jingle and laughing our heads off. it was a good time.

what’s going on

(1) camp starts tomorrow! i’m half super nervous, half super psyched.

(2) someone stole the scooter license plate, and the dentmobile is at the mechanic. so i have to either ride my bike tomorrow or get a ride. i thought my days of being dependent were over! oh well.

(3) if you see me try to purchase a CD in the near future, please slap me or something. too many new CDs lately. i have acquired 26 in the last three weeks, 4 just today. not good.

(4) there is less than a month until breaking dawn, the final twilight novel is released (august 2nd)!!! i just finished rereading the series this afternoon, and it’s making me very antsy. when i read these books i get unnaturally caught up in them. it seriously takes me weeks after finishing them to get them out of my mind. any down time i have is spent thinking about them, i’m not even kidding. note to self: calm the hell down and get your OCD under control.

$4.23

i scootered around brighton today for a good two hours. i wanted to see how long it would take me to get from place to place (for example, on mondays i may have to go from home to FRES to brighton rec to MCC to home). i also hit up record archive afterwards and purchased the new joy electric album that came out three days ago. i feel real comfortable on the scooter now, and i’m almost used to the terrible looks i get from drivers as they pass me. lol.

oh, and i filled up the gas tank. well, it was 3/4 empty. guess how much it cost? — $3.17. a little math tells me that to fill it up from E would cost $4.23. that’s awesome.

quite a day

so i went to the mall with liz yesterday. you know what that means: constant staring and having to deal with random people talking about my hair as i pass by. but whatever, i kind of like it now. the best was when a little girl was with her mom about 20 feet behind us. i heard her yell, “PINK HAIR!” and then liz was like, “watch out lan!” i was able to turn around to see the girl running straight for me. but then her mom yelled and she stopped and went back. five minutes later she was still behind us, and she ran at me again, seemingly with her mother’s permission this time, and pulled on my pant leg because i was facing the other direction talking to liz. i turned around and looked at her and she said, “hi! you’re pretty!” and ran back to her mom.

and later that night i hung out with mike. this is when i manged to visit record archive not just once, not twice, but three times in a 5 hour span. you see, when we made plans, i obviously did not take note of the fact he needed a ride, so i’m like at record archive (visit 1) and he calls asking where i am. headdesk much? so i go pick him up and drive back (visit 2). we spent a few hours there, and i got plenty of albums for only $29.62 with tax (bulit to spill: ancient melodies of the future, lostprophets: liberation transmission, the cranberries: wake up and smell the coffee, pulp: separations, and barenaked ladies: rock spectacle).

after going through almost all the the cds and perusing every single vhs (including the classic movie how to hunt majestic elk, brought to you by chevrolet), we left to go to lakeshore. i would like to mention that this was the part of the evening when i parallel parked downtown. yes. anyways, nothing good at lakeshore (what’s new?), but we looked around for quite awhile. after deciding that lakeshore is… quaint, we went back to record archive (visit 3). we went through all the music one more time, because mike was looking for an album he couldn’t find at lakeshore or something. after a very necessary gas fill-up (extreme E) and a wegmans trip, i dropped him off at his house and i went home to be greeted by my parents, a horror movie on the tv, and some microwave burritos. good day.

weekend

went home this weekend. friday was a stabby day (movie: the golden compass, dinner: wild noodles). the movie was awesome. the golden compass and the other books in the trilogy have been tied with the harry potter series for years ever since my dad gave me the books for christmas. i obviously loved the books infinity times more, but the movie was pretty darn good. except it ended extremely abruptly, guaranteeing that they are doing the next two books too. which is awesome. the third is my favorite, even though i bawl upon finishing it. so what, i’m a girl.

today was a curls day (movie: i am legend, shopping: record archive). curls, her bf jon, and i saw i am legend at the imax theater, which i haven’t been to in years. it’s amazing. but watching a scary movie in it is a little unnerving, i’m not going to lie. the movie was still fantastic though. and record archive was awesome. i got a cd for myself (under the influence of giants’ self-titled album) and a cd for a christmas present. good day.

i’m back at the ’seo, drove myself in the car that now has a glove compartment that’s velcroed shut and a trunk that takes me 15 minutes to break into. oh, and no hub caps. but it does have three snow tires now. but not four.

chuck / cake

so on saturday i decided i’d start watching the episodes of chuck on nbc.com, because the previews always made me laugh, and i was bored. i absolutely loved it, but that’s not the point of this post. the subject of this post is actually the opening theme music. i instantly adored it, and filed away in my brain that i wanted that song.

so on friday i bought some albums at record archive, like i said in yesterday’s post. one of them was a cake album called “comfort eagle” (it was on the list). a few minutes ago i ripped it onto my computer and upon listening to it, and i found that i instantly loved the song “short skirt / long jacket” (it now resides on the ‘awesome’ playlist).

well, i’m sure you’ve already figured out what it took several minutes of wikipediaing to find out: it’s the same song. i just thought it was a fairly awesome coincidence.
