today was the last day of classes for my freshman year! five finals stand before me and summer vacation. we’ll see how that goes.

i also went to the crentist today. i need to get some cavities filled, and i need my wisdom teeth pulled. and liz needs braces. and the bulgemobile died, so my dad needs a new car. our poor, poor family.

oh, and tonight i went to game night at the knightspot with chelsea, emily, and kaitlin. it was super fun. we played clue and guitar hero, and i won a rubik’s cube in a raffle. what are the chances of that? lol.

M E M’ E’

geneseo mike and i just spent 45 minutes trying to solve our rubik’s cubes with the center pieces switched. we seriously sat in my room trying different ways of doing it and epically failing for forty-five friggin’ minutes.

then i googled it and found the algorithm: M E M’ E’
how obnoxious is that? 45 minutes spent trying to figure something out that ends up having a four letter algorithm that takes 5 seconds to do.

mike and i had a good laugh about that, and then tried to play it off like doing that solve was super hard when megan came in. we even said “we’re like geniuses” at the exact same time.

cube comp

this story doesn’t have a happy ending. so… there was this rubik’s cube competition in the union tonight at 10. i really didn’t want to go, because i’m not very good under pressure, but my friends convinced me to try it. so alexa and i went, and i was all nervous and freaking out (on the inside). including me there were six people competing, and i thought i’d do fairly well. but of course, right before i turned the last layer to finish the cube (i would have taken second), i looked over to see how many other people had finished, and i messed up. i haven’t messed up in like four months. ugh. so i didn’t make it to the finals. i redeemed myself (sort of) by sitting behind the two last finalists and doing my cube at the same time. i finished before both of them. that kind of made me sad. but it’s good to know that i’m better than them. lol.

59

hey, i’m home for the weekend! yesterday we picked up my aunt marta from the airport, she’s in town too. the airport is the setting for today’s story.

so i’m sitting with my mom in the airport, bored as hell, right? i take out my good ol’ rubik’s cube, because i always have at least one in my bag (at the time i actually had two, but that’s not important). i asked my mom to time me, just because she said i was slow.

i was hoping to beat my personal record, 1 minute 29 seconds, which i got in june. but since i haven’t timed myself since then, i was really surprised by the time i got: 1 MINUTE 6 SECONDS. it was awesome. i thought it was a fluke, but when i did it again for liz on her phone’s camcorder, i got 1 minute 9 seconds. this morning i did it again and got 59 SECONDS!!!!!!

awesomeness rubik's cube

a good weekend

this weekend i:

(1) went to my cousin steven’s 14th birthday party (happy birthday stevie!).
(2) played guitar hero for xbox, marking the first time in years that i successfully played a video game.
(3) swam in a pool for the first time since steve’s party last year (i’m not really a swimming fan).
(4) caught up on my reading (harry potter, of course).
(5) drove more than 80 miles, and none of it on the express way.
(6) rubik’s cube’d a lot (my best time is still 1 minute 30 seconds).
(7) went grocery shopping twice.
(8) played scrabble with stevie (no one wants to play with me anymore, which makes me sad a lot).
(9) did my laundry (i know, amazing!).
(10) watched both anchorman and wayne’s world, two of my most favoritest movies ever.

i would also like to mention that today i broke my 18 day streak of not watching television by indulging in a rerun of “family guy” as i ate dinner. but i would like to note that i wouldn’t have turned it on if my dad wasn’t already watching it, because i was reading the newspaper at the same time.

new time - 2.13

what happens when school is cancelled and you have nothing to do?

(1) practice your rubik’s cube (see title).

(2) go to the movies and see epic movie (terrible) with your sister, your friend stabby, stabby’s two sisters, her sister’s friend, your friend chels, chels’ brother, and her brother’s friend. and don’t forget: everyone has to fit in two cars. and your mom has to drive.

(3) go on a photoshop frenzy and produce one hilar drawing of you and your sister, which you drew on your wacom tablet…

from this drawing you can see that i: have short, pink hair, my skin is pale(ish), my eyes are squinty, and i have a big dopey smile. liz, on the other hand: has long, brown hair, tan skin, glasses, and a typical liz smile. yet we are related.

and i threw a rock

i just had a 2.27 minute solve. i need to make a rubik’s cube icon. be right back. done.

so brighton was like the only school district to not close their schools today, even though the wind chill was more that 25. so yeah, what the heck? and now the list of closings tomorrow is insane (listed here), and mcquaid, a school a mile away, is closed, so WTF? NEVERMIND, IT’S CANCELLED.

my square-dancing is the best. we deff are going to make it to the finals this year, or else. *shakes fist*

high school rubik's cube weather
FawltyTowersMoose1.gif

a nice friday

’twas the last day of school before break today. that meant i had a buttload of tests (yes, that included an econ test). but because it was friday, i didn’t mind so much. stabby gave me a rubik’s cube for christmas, so i had some fun with that. i haven’t solved it yet, but i’m getting there.

and at work we had 19 kids, which is friggin’ amazing. i spent most of the time making pacman-themed melti-beads and playing catch with a pink nerf football. plus a lot of kids brought gifts for the other counselors and i, so we had a good time trading candy, and pawning off the crappy stuff to the kids.
