well i have been stuck on “epic fail” for the past few days.

(1) yesterday was obvs “let’s all do things that creep miss m out” day at FRES. it all started out when a boy walked into the room in the morning with a ginormous beetle on him. i almost jumped onto a table, i swear. a few minutes later, a girl walks in, her previously very long hair now cut short. i said, “cute haircut!” and she came over to me, pulled out a shoebox from her backback, and proceeded to show me a box full of her hair. A BOX FULL OF HER HAIR. soooooooo effing creepy. the teacher and i told her she had to put it in her locker, half for sanitary reasons, and half because we were so creeped out. and to top it all off a girl lost her tooth after recess. and we all know how much i hate seeing: a) loose teeth, b) teeth not inside mouths, c) places were teeth used to be but aren’t any longer, and d) blood. ew.

(2) i’ve been constantly worrying about money lately. like to extreme proportions. but i feel it’s justified. when i started high school i started saving my money. when i graduated high school, i had saved around $6,000. now that i have recently finished my first year of college, i have around $3,500. WTF WAS I DOING ALL YEAR? i’m really mad at myself right now. so mad that i bought $127 worth of shoes this morning.

(3) why are kids so keen to point out every single one of your faults CONSTANTLY? it’s seriously driving me insane. i know why i suck, guys! i don’t need to be reminded! ETA: although today the kids gave the counselors awards, and i got “most awesome pink haired counselor.” very cute : )

i’ve been wearing chucks since i was in 6th grade, about 8 years ago. i’ve pretty much had every single color of the rainbow, plus black and white and multicolored chucks.

i usually own one pair at a time and wear them ’till they’re dead. currently i own two pairs at once, one is my regular pair (purple) and the other is my work pair (white). at work (bcsd) we’re allowed to wear all-white sneakers, and i finally found a pair that fit their specifications, and yet were still cool enough for me (they match my hair perfectly!).

i’m in a love/hate relationship with my new teal slip-on vans (via ebay, score!). this always happens when i get new sneakers. new shoes are just so perfect looking, and i love that. but i hate that they are so perfect looking at the same time.

i’ll be walking past a mud puddle and the insane side of me will be like just jump in it and get it over with! but then the rational side of me is like wtf do you think you’re doing? you’ll ruin your brand new kicks! and since i’m generally a rational person, i never do it.

so i guess i’ll just have to deal with having too-white shoes for a few weeks. blast. or maybe i can get someone to push me onto the rugby field or something.

(1) geneseo has blocked sendspace, bittorrent, and limewire (and maybe others i don’t know about). this is like the worst ever. my list of things to download is growing far too long for my liking. seriously.

(2) i think it might be time for a new pair of slip-on vans.

(3) THE GIANTS WON!!!!
our super bowl party was awesome. we stole couches from the other lounges and brought them into ours, we made insane amounts of food (i did the nachos), we ate pizza and wings, and we were all giants fans. i was nicknamed “mom” by everyone there because i spent most of the time cleaning up, i did the accounting and money collecting/distributing, and i organized everything. lol.

so megan and i have been playing this prank on alexa — every time she takes her shoes off in our room and leaves them there, we hide them in a bin in megan’s closet. the weird part is she hasn’t noticed. i explained this all at dinner tonight to sruthi, chelsea, and tommi (alexa was getting more french toast).

so when we got back to my room, sruthi of course had to ask, “where are the shoes?” i gave her a hard look and said i didn’t know what she was talking about. but that just made her clarify it by saying, “you know, the shoes you stole from alexa every time she left them in the room, the ones you hid in a bin in megan’s closet?” i attempted to play it off like sruthi was going insane, but there was no recovering from that. so i enlisted the use a few choice swear words, and bid them good day.

BEST. SHOES. EVER.

liz showed me these a few weeks ago, and the very small photo on my phone did not look quite that awesome. so i’m buying these, asap. or someone can get me these for christmas (size 8 mens!)? let me know, because i don’t know how long i can wait. hahaha.

stabby and i went shopping for ball stuff yesterday at the mall, mainly looking for shoes. stabby got some really cute ones, but i just couldn’t find any i liked. but today i found some online that i love and that match my dress/hair (aren’t they cute?) and i just ordered them, along with two bottles of atomic pink, because hot topic hasn’t had it in the store for a month, and i really need to do my roots.

i finished goblet of fire today. *sigh* all i can say is thank god july 21st is a saturday, because i’d be very tempted to skip work and lock myself in my bedroom if it wasn’t. damn it harry potter, why do you have to be so amazing?

which reminds me, i managed to convince a majority of the kids at work last thursday that harry potter was nonfiction. and i even managed to get a few of the younger ones to believe that i knew harry potter personally. and then someone drew the conclusion that i was actually nymphadora tonks, because she has famously pink hair, and she’s a metamorphmagus (look it up, you know the url for wikipedia). but i was soon outed by a 4th grader who had the second book and a vast knowledge of how to read the book info on the copyright page.

tomorrow begins another week. so yeah, that should be fun. not.

lan: sir, may i see this here shoe in a size 8 please? *holds up display shoe from shelf*
employee: sure thing. i’m be right back.

a minute or two later…
employee: here you go. *hands over box*
lan: sweetness. *tries on shoe* holy crap this shoe is small! i think i’ll have to go up to a 12 or something man. geez! *packs up shoes in shoebox and hastily hands them over to the employee*
kate: lan, your forgot a shoe! *hands shoe to employee*
lan: no, i already put both in, where’d you get that one from?
kate: lan, i hate to break this to you, but you tried on the display shoe. it is a size 5.
lan: oh.

about 10 minutes later…
lan: this store sucks. c’mon kate, let’s go to journey’s.
kate: uh, lan? we’re at journey’s.

we picked new options today in p.e. it was a choice between volleyball, badminton, and power walking, so we obviously chose badminton. the problem was, every single girl chose badminton. so only the senior girls were allowed. the juniors had to choose between vollyball and powerwalking. normally, i’d do anything other than walk all class, but volleyball is a big no-no for girls that don’t actually play volleyball, since the boys get so into it you a) don’t actually play b) get harassed by the boys all class. so powerwalking it was! samantha, marie, and i were the only 3 (we didn’t want to be split up) and we were really bummed. especially when mr. petron annoced that there would be a midterm. but we relaxed when he said the midterm was walking to dunkin’ doughnuts and not spilling our coffee and dropping our doughnut on the way back.

and i got new chucks (see the picture? they’re so pretty and blue and pink!) because the bottom fell of my right shoe and the duct tape isn’t working all that well anymore. they were such nice shoes too. custom made. said my name on them. i’m saddened. my mom says she is going to throw them out. i’ve heard that before. i’ll have to keep my eyes open. just in case.
