Lanni II: Feed Me!

I went to my team’s doubleheader today, and sat on the sidelines. I almost freakin’ died out there, it was so hot. Luckily, a breeze picked up about 2 hours in. And I just had to bring the most uncomfortable chair in my entire household. We lost the first game, won the second. Pizza and pop afterwards, so sitting there for 4 hours was worth it. The season is over now, I’m not sure if I’m glad or sad. But as we all know, Don’t get mad, get Glad! Which is not relevant to any of this, but…

I’m going to camp on Tuesday! I am SO pysched!

softball summer camp

Plus two

My last exam was today, woot! It was bio and it was a regents, but I had enough time to do the exam twice, so I think I did all right. School’s officially out! I might go to camp for a few hours tomorrow while Liz is at Six Flags with her class. We’re leaving officially Tuesday morning. I’m super excited.

We won our softball game. In the 6th inning a ball was hit way over my head in center field so I ran back to grab it. As I reached for it I slipped and landed on my back, after hearing my knee make a horrible popping sound. I had the ball in my hands, but I knew I couldn’t get up so I threw it where I estimated my teammate Kristen was. She caught it and we made the play. Coach took me out the 7th inning though, because I was limping. I’m so lame.

Awesome game, yo.

Okay, it was the longest game in history (1pm to 4:20pm) and we almost didn’t win, but it was a blast. Bottom of the second: I walked to first, stole second, and rounded third and took home, with a play at the plate and a slide (which gave me a painful abrasion on my leg, it kills). Bottom of the fourth: I struck out, but because of the dropped-third strike rule I ran to steal first and allowed an RBI. Bottom of the seventh (we only play 7): *see below.

*My mom called out the lineup… Allison, Lanni, Rachel. If you’ve seen the three of us bat, you’ll understand the comment I overhead in which my coach whispered to my other coach: “We’re screwed.” Allison got up at bat, but got a fly out. So then it was me. All me. The first pitch… foul. The second pitch… ball. The third pitch… ball. The fourth pitch… strike. And the fifth pitch… ball. I walked to first. I hopped onto the base and the first base coach says to me, “Your knee hurts, right Lanni?”, and he winks, in which I reply, “Oh yes coach, it hurts really bad. I don’t think I can run.” I obviously lied. I lied. I almost never lie. I did it for the team. I am the slowest runner on the team. I was replaced by Allison, who went on to making the winning run. Everyone loves me now.

Dynamite!

We won again. This time by like a lot, like 12 runs. It was 14 runs for awhile, but then we made about 5 errors in a row and lost a lot of runs. I hit the ball 2 times out of 3: 1st hit popped up and the second baseman caught it, the 2nd hit went way out into center field behind the fielder, but I was only able to take 1st because the fielder was freaking quick. It was a nice game. Afterwards we got popcicles.

Orthodontist appointment tomorrow, I hope I can stop wearing my freaking retainer (I have been wearing it for freaking 2 years already, geez).

We LOST!

We lost our first game today. The score was 2-11. If it wasn’t for the other team’s varsity-playing pitcher, we probably would have won. Too bad Bethany wasn’t there, she would have kept us alive. But oh well. It was like 90 degrees out and we played for 3 hours. I drank 2 Nalgene bottles of water. And when I got home I took the coldest shower I have ever taken. And it felt good. Later Curls came over and we went to Blockbuster and rented Vanity Fair, which I did not like. Yeah, so afterwards we got Frostys because it was so freaking hot out. Yep.

I so need a new template for this site. I’m tired of it. I’ve had it for awhile actually. And it’s boring. Ideas?

I rock.

We of course won our game again today, 8-6. I made one run. I actually had three strikes but I stole first when the catcher dropped the ball. And the catcher overthrew the first baseman so I also stole second. And then Lucia was up and I rounded third and went home. It was awesome. I also touched the ball for the first time today, seriously. I haven’t done anything at all this season but today I stopped the ball from going to far in the outfield (using my leg) and I threw it to second, although the batter had already reached first. Meh, I still helped.

7 days left!

Can live without them.

I had my chorus concert tonight. It sucked. We messed up a lot and it was really long (6:45 to 9:45).

School was about as cool as school can be.

I had my Spanish Regents oral exam yesterday. My teacher said I did well, I hope she was telling the truth. When she asked me if I was nervous I said, “Heck yes!” so we had a normal conversation for awhile about stuff (school, siblings, my hair, etc.). It worked, mostly. I was still pretty nervous though. My first situation was that I was at a party with my friend (my teacher) and I wanted her to introduce me to someone. So I asked her to talk to a “pretty boy” in the room and at the end I needed one last line and all I could come up with is, “¿Puedo tener tú número de teléfono?” which obviously means, “Can I have your phone number?” Who says that? Ugh. But it worked. And my teacher cracked up. The second situation was that I was going to a museum with my friend and we had to make plans for before. We decided to go to get something to eat and I remember I said, “Me molesta queso,” which means, “Cheese bothers me”. It lightened the mood, I know that.

Today in PE we played ultimate frisbee because too many girls picked tennis and only 28 could play. We lost horribly, but it wasn’t that bad. It was actually quite fun. We had a bunch of jock frosh on our team and they hogged the frisbee, even though I was open almost all of the time. Freshmen, can’t live with them.

I have another game tomorrow. Yikes. Two in 3 days. Bad scheduling.

Open late, not so great..

I got a double on a strike out (seriously) and I hit one into right center, but only made it to first (but I made a run by stealing every base). Now I have to go to bed, not. I have to finish my homework. I’m changing the time of the post so it goes with the right day, but it’s really 12:36am right now.

Lanni: Nice hit Liz! Sorry, but I have to go and write 8 lines of iambic pentameter!
Liz: Whatever.

Lanni: C’mon Dad, let’s go. I don’t have all day! I need to write some iambic pentameter!
Dad: Okay okay, I get it. You have to write some iambic pentameter.
Lanni: Yeah, that’s right, iambic pentameter. Iambic pentameter. I really just like saying that. Iambic pentameter.
Dad: Shut up!

Lanni: Sorry Mom, I can’t do the dishes right now, I have to go write 8 lines of iambic pentameter.
Mom: I heard.

Stuff, yo.

Liz won her game against Hilton, 21-12. It rained off and on the whole time (I hate Rochester!) which majorly sucked. I think it’s the last game I’m keeping score at because it’s her last home game.

CSI: Miami
- Hagen committed suicide
- Calleigh resigned
- Yelina fled to Brazil with her thought to be dead husband and her son

Las Vegas
- Sam resigned
- Nessa and Delinda left for London, pursed by a suspicious man
- Mike is leaving to go on tour with his Auntie Gladys Knight
- Danny’s father died
- Mary left for Hawaii with her boyfriend

NCIS
- Kate was shot in the head and died
- Gibbs resigned

Plan for this week

Monday: Nothing.

Tuesday: My mom’s picking me up from school at 1:45pm. She’s taking me to Athletic Outlet to get a new zipper hoodie and a number on my softball jersey. After that it’s to Liz’s double header (I’m obviously keeping score). At 7 I’m walking the dogs next door.

Wednesday: I think I’m hanging out with Kate after school, but I’m not certain.

Thursday: Becky (Remember her? Think BYT) is picking me up after school and driving me to Brighton Rec. I’m going to help write our grant final write-up. Then she’s driving me home.

Friday: After school my dad is taking me and my sister to see The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, finally. Afterwards we are going out for dinner.

ACK! I have so much homework to do this week and so much other stuff to do. Ugh.

LAZY

Whew. What a weekend. I’ll start from the beginning…

Friday: Day 2, my most favored yet most disliked day of the cycle. (1) No social studies (2) Science lab. And now I will describe the number one talked about lab of biology—dissecting the fetal pig. I was in a group with 2 other girls and one boy. I volunteered to do most of the dissecting, and I did. I first tied the poor piggy down (who we named Sir Porky) and made a Y-incision (thank you CSI!). I removed the liver, spleen, intestines, heart, and brain. The brain was the worst. I had to cut through the skull and the brain was all squishy. Ugh. I’m glad I am sick because I couldn’t smell anything, ha! Later that day I was supposed to do my Spanish regents oral, but my teacher canceled, I don’t know why though. After school I went to see PR, my counselor, to make changes to my schedule (switch from AP American History to regular, add Video Communications). And after that my mom picked me up and we went to Liz’s game, where I again kept score. They won. I don’t remember the score though. Curls came and drove me home afterwards. Then Operation “I can’t remember the name but I know it’s a breakfast food” was set into motion. It was really just a code name for Kate’s surprise birthday party. I packed up the stuff I need for the party: cake mix, frosting, sprinkles, food coloring, candles, a punch bowl, sharpies, duct tape, Catch Phrase, my camera, and some cash. My mom drove me to CVS and I purchased a birthday card with a hamster on it, a pink notebook, and a box of markers. Then my mom dropped me off at Dinah’s. I’m getting tired and I’m fairly sure no one is going to read this far, so I’ll just say the abbreviated version. We watched TV, played Catch Phrase, baked the cake (but didn’t decorate it), and went to bed.

Saturday: I got up around 11am (after being woken up at 3am when TWO different boys called her on her cellphone), Dinah was already out getting her nails done for the ball next week. When she got home we decorated the cake (pink frosting!) and blew up some balloons. Chelsea had come over by then. We decorated some and soon Abby came over and then Ray and Greg and then Mac. We kind of just sat around for a hour or two. Abby and Mac got in a fight over the basketball and lets just say it ended with the floor being covered in confetti. At 3pm Katie came and we yelled “SURPRISE!” when she came (duh!). Unfortunately, she knew about the party and wasn’t surprised. That made me sad. I knew that she knew though. Meh. The party was fun, we played Catch Phrase and “Pin the Horn on the Unicorn”. And we had a pinata, it was in the shape of a unicorn. Dinah and Abby named it Shannon. I had a fun time, the only not cool part was Dinah making out with Greg (yeah, not Diego) the whole freaking time. I was seriously yelling at them the entire time I was there. Ugh. Later I went home, after popping all the balloons with scissors. When I got home I watched The Life Aquatic with my dad and Liz, which I liked.

Sunday: Today I got up at 12:30PM when my mom woke me up and 20 minutes later I was in the car dressed for my softball game, but going to Liz’s game. I watched hers for about an hour and then my mom and I went to Wendy’s for lunch and then to my game. We got our shirts, they are pink. I don’t have a number on mine for some reason, so I guess I can pick my own (yay!). We played at Pittsford. It was a very good game. We won, 13-0. Highlights: Kristin hit a home run and on the way to home from third she tripped and laid on the ground for awhile before getting up and running home; Maddie got out of a hot box; Lucia stole second and third on a walk; Beth and Allison pitched 3 batter innings five out of the seven innings we played. Fun. Then we went home and I saw the series finale of Andromeda, and I am sad it’s over. And now I’m hanging around the house yo.
