well that was a night to remember. chronological list format to make it easier to comprehend. if you read the whole thing i’ll give you a prize.
1. megan, janine, lauren, tommi, lindsey, elly and i all piled on the bus at 5:30 — the plan was we’d take the bus to applebee’s, then walk to the movie theater to see leatherheads, and then… well, we weren’t sure how we’d get back to school. the night started off great when the bus driver “forgot” his route and we ended up looping around campus not once, but twice, on the way to applebee’s.
2. please note that the geneseo applebee’s is critically acclaimed for their record slow seating times and terrible service. when we got there, we waited for a good 45 minutes. at one point the hostess had us follow in a circle around the restaurant, then after noticing that there actually wasn’t an open table, she had us stand in a huddle in the middle of the restaurant until a table opened up… for 6 people. there are 7 of us. poor lindsey was stuck awkwardly on a barstool all night.
3. since it was raining, and the bus wasn’t coming for awhile, and megan’s friend liz had joined us halfway through the meal, we accepted the ride liz offered us in her 5 person car. yes, we fit 8 people in a 5 person car. ever fit 5 grown people in the backseat before? we have.
4. we ended up an hour early to the movie. while we bummed around the movie theater, i was approached by a woman asking if she could take a picture of me with her camera phone. turns out she had been at the restaurant at the same time as us. also turns out that there was already a picture of me on her phone. not even kidding.
5. leatherheads was so cute! not the funniest movie ever, but as everyone knows, i’m in love with john krasinski. so that instantly made the movie 500 times more enjoyable. not that it wasn’t, because, like i said, it was cute. gosh, i wish we still lived in the 20s. they dressed so awesome. geez, i’d make a terrible movie reviewer.
6. when the movie let out we realized that the bus doesn’t stop anywhere near the movie theater at night. but the schedule said it stopped at walmart at 11:10 (it was 11:10), and the movie theater is on the way back to campus. so we crossed the parking lot, ran across 20A, and waited. unfortunately, it was foggy as hell out, and we doubted the bus driver would be able to see us. by some crazy luck, the we saw the bus driving back to campus not a minute later, and all 7 us waved it down in the dark. it was amazing.
7. megan would like me to mention that “she is the best roommate ever,” and that “the whole world should know that.” fyi.
