breaking news: i understood what was going on in my calc 3 class for the first time all semester. this is a glorious day.

in other news: i painted my watch pink today.

live from our weather radar: it was so foggy this morning that a lot of classes were canceled. not mine, of course.

and in sports today: nothing.

spackled my battleship

icon meme on the ol’ livejournal. check it out, it’s awesome.

75 MPH winds today. i may or may not have broken the car door. video will be up tomorrow.

last night my mom and i attempted to put up a set of shelves in my room. we ended the night with one bracket fairly firmly screwed on, the other precariously attached, and two large holes in the wall. but it all worked out in the end, the shelves are currently attached securely to the wall, and the holes have been spackled.

what a country!

today feels like it’s been forever. i worked on so much of my final projects today, i’m quite amazed with myself. i completely finished my spanish powerpoint and assessment plus the notes for my slides. and then i finished the entire culture part of my multicultural lit. project. also, during school i bookmarked half my book where quotes i plan to use in my essay are (i would have done more tonight, but an entire bottle of hair product spilled on my [library] book when i was downstairs, so it’s drying right now). plus my yakov smirnoff poster came in the mail today.

have you ever walked somewhere and have someone honk their horn at you (someone you know, obvs), and you get in their car while they are stopped at an intersection? seems pretty dangerous, yes? imagine the crossing guard telling you to hurry up and get in, as opposed to yelling at you for even thinking about running into the street. now imagine there are three of you, and the two seats up front are full. and now imagine that it’s 7:32 in the morning. good times.

yesterday and today were fire drill day (happy fire drill day!), as we had two every day. that means it’s nice out finally in rochester.

and i threw a rock

i just had a 2.27 minute solve. i need to make a rubik’s cube icon. be right back. done.

so brighton was like the only school district to not close their schools today, even though the wind chill was more that 25. so yeah, what the heck? and now the list of closings tomorrow is insane (listed here), and mcquaid, a school a mile away, is closed, so WTF? NEVERMIND, IT’S CANCELLED.

my square-dancing is the best. we deff are going to make it to the finals this year, or else. *shakes fist*

ice storm, kind of

so today it snowed, for like the first time ever. so i wasn’t really that excited to walk to work, because they never clear the sidewalks very well. but after walking about twenty feet, shawn (the custodian from work) pulled over and gave me a ride, so that was handy. and melissa now works every day, and always passes by my school, so she said she can drive me from now on. so that’s pretty sweet.

some really awesome golden globe pictures (office cast).

the kids at work were appauled today when i informed them that i did not follow football. when they asked me which sports i did enjoy, i responded, “extreme ironing and kickball, duh.” so then we had to have an entire conversation about extreme ironing, ending with the kids still not believing that i had not only been on top of a fire truck, but that i had also been inside an empty canal lock. i’ll show them, if i can figure out how to rip something off a dvd, which i’m pretty sure is illegal. even though i myself made the dvd. hmm.

i’m also working on my lj reboot too, so stay tuned for the reveal on feb. 1st.

tv: the office weather

soaked!

back so soon you say? yes, it’s wednesday and i’m home. the party was awesome, but for other reasons it had to be cut a bit short. i guess i’ll start from the beginning…

on monday we didn’t actually get to the camp site until 5 hours after we came, which might actually be a record. we set up the tents and the mini fridge (!). mom thought it would be cheaper to rent a mini fridge than to buy a ton of ice. hmm? but okay, the first day was fine. we went into the woods to find some fire wood and ended up going on a hike that led us quite far from the camp. on the way we ate the berries, which has become our slogan. after we wandered back (after enlisting in the help of an eldery couple with a large poodle) we played a few hands of spoons. the last hand was the best, for we used forks during that one. liz has a nice stab mark on her hand. he he he.

on tuesday we got up late at noon(ish). later we went swimming. it was awesome. it’s been awhile since i’ve swam in a real lake (pinewood’s is technically a pond) and i loved the waves. afterwards kate and stabby buried me in the sand. oh yes, i gave abby the name stabby. isn’t that great? ah, i laugh much at that name. but in other news… curls and my dad stopped by later that day with an ice cream cake. curls gave me two cd’s (a catch 22 and a presidents). my father informed us that it was supposed to rain 5 freaking inches during the night and recommended that we go home. we decided we’d stick it out. which was a horrible idea now that i look back on it…

after my dad left it started to rain. then it poured. then i noticed that our tent door was open. then we decided we ought to go to bed. we free-style rapped for awhile. then i sat there awake for 5 hours as the rain poured down on the tent VERY LOUDLY. everyone else was able to sleep somehow. at 2:32am kate rolled over and pressed the button on my watch that makes it flash. so i said, “you like that, don’t you?” which woke stabby up. so we sat there talking until they fell asleep again. the general consensus though was that at 5 we’d get up and go to the restroom ’cause we all had to pee. i obviously didn’t keep track of the time because at 5:31am my mom yelled from her tent, “okay, it’s time to go home.” by then we were already soaked from the leaks that sprung in the roof and the bottom. we got up and got outside. it was still pouring. and dark. very dark. we packed up the entired campsite (and by packed, i mean shoved everything in the car) in 30 minutes. that’s quite an accomplishment. i mean, packing in the dark is hard enough, but add pouring rain to that and you’ve got yourself quite a feat. we couldn’t fit the tents in the back, so they ended up on our laps as we sat there soaked and shivering. we got home, changed, and collaspsed in the waterbed. after sleeping for 8 hours, we finally got up, ate breakfast, and began our day.

that, my friends, is a party for the record books.
