top secretso i think you’re going to have to wait for the weekend for the posts about the past weekend. sorry about that. i have decided that i’m not going to post every day anymore. basically, i’m trying to get ready for college life by starting good habits (i actually make my bed now, it’s crazy). having “posting on my blog” on my priorities list isn’t very beneficial for me, so i’m chucking that. i’ll post often though, but only when i have something to say. but who knows, i might keep posting every day anyway : ) i’m almost done with my multi-lit project. i just have to do a rewrite/proofwrite of my critical lens essay, and do the “creative portion.” tomorrow i’m going to ask my teacher if making a website would be an acceptable project for this section, because i’m having problems thinking of something i can do for it that i’m actually good at. the lj reboothooray for the_lj_reboot! i first decided that i wanted to use the same colours and theme as my site, imaclanni.com. then it turned into this brilliant (not really) idea that it would be a mixture of my old lj layout and my website layout. then it became a negative mirror image idea, which i stuck with. the blue and pinks switched, and everything is flipped. i thought it would be easy to recreate my old graphics, but that is the part that took the longest. coding it was easier than i expected, all that work on my last reboot introduced me to almost all of the aspects of designing a lj layout. i used opal for this layout again, because it allowed me to use pieces of my old css. the part i liked most about my last layout was that i had all the meta information underneather the userpic on the side of the entry. when i switched my stylesheet (after accidently deleting mine when i tested this new stylesheet), i found that i really didn’t like having the meta data on the bottom, so i’m excited to put this up. um, that’s pretty much it. the mile (is tomorrow)“the mile” is a term that strikes fear into the eyes of all brighton students. more sick students are recorded in the attendance books on the day of the mile than any other day of the year. the nurse’s office is flooded with students claiming to have twisted ankles and stomach cramps. this day, my friends, is tomorrow. and i will not be exempt this year do to injury. i will run the mile, and i will finish in 12 minutes. sadly enough, i will not finish last. |
hooray!it’s back! my imac! that guys esimate of 4 days was so off. one day. amazing. my computer is quieter (not completely quiet, but definitely quieter, i can’t hear it downstairs anymore). and so far it hasn’t put itself to sleep yet. this is good. very good. school is getting better. and my schedule isn’t really that bad (although it is still pretty hard to handle sometimes). the groupings of frees are coming in handy. today i had 3 straight periods to work on my lj. turns out it wasn’t looking to hot on windows, so i’m starting all over, and i’m hacking a different template. i hope i can finish by the deadline (october 1). |
there’s no end in sightlivejournal and i are in a love/hate relationship right now. i’ve been working on my reboot template for a few days now, and i’m getting really frustrated by it. i thought i had it all figured out, but then i check my flist and it was so not all figured out. i think i have to rewrite big parts of code. ugh. but i’m learning a lot, so i guess that’s a good thing. kind of. i don’t want to go to school. |
all done!it’s online! this is an amazing moment for me. i don’t think i’ve ever done this much web work in, well, i’ve never done this much. in just 3 days i purchased a domain and hosting, made a logo and other images, coded 13 pages/subpages, wrote my first real php script, had a horrible time finding a good drop-down menu javascript code, set up paypal donations, figured out the tabbing, gathered information, wrote a bio for myself, and much more. i’m pretty happy with the results. if you’re on a peecee, let me know if you see any bugs or such. |
new projecti’m working on a very important website project right now for two guys that go to my school. they’ve started fdvc and i’m the web designer. i’m actually part of this three-person company. they have high hopes, and i have to admire their guts. they do videography for big events like weddings and such. this is one of the first entire site packages that i’ve done (purchasing hosting, the domain, coding, maintaining, et cetera) and i’m a little nervous. i have a deadline of tuesday, but i’m pretty sure i can make that. i’m having a bit of trouble coding some css tabs, but i think i have almost got it. |
yar!happy father’s day dad! redid the class website, yay. i was lucky to find those parchment images, let me just tell you that. check out this lj post, because it’s quite fun. |
