cache 1: the greenway cache

found this cache after a short walk down the greenway near geneseo. i didn’t know what a greenway was before this (i thought it had something to do with a golf course), but now i know it’s the path left after they take out a railroad. this particular one is 91 miles long! anways, the cache was in a REALLY crafty location, and was super fun to find : )

cache 2: the big tree cache

the cache actually is no where near that tree. it’s just really awesome. actually, the cache was hidden underneath a big ol’ bee’s nest, surrounded by poison ivy and thorns! it was insane getting it out, but we managed.

cache 3: the water tower cache

again, this cache was no where near the water tower (why is it even called a tower anyways?). we almost thought we couldn’t find this one, and then my dad accidentally stumbled across it! yay : )

cache 4: the sad cemetery cache

this cache container was so awesome! the person that hid it actually bolted a rock to the top and buried the rest under the dirt. crazy!

cache 4.5: the multicache we only half found

multicaches are like normal caches, but with more parts. first you find the first cache using the coordinates from the site. in that cache are coordinates to the next cache, and so on if desired. this cache only had two parts, but we couldn’t find the second spot. when i got home i researched it a bit and i think i know where it is now, so we’ll have to go back again next weekend : )

basically, it’s all sorts of amazing. i had already purchased (and adored) the soundtrack before i even went to see it, which made it ever better. oh, and i have a link for it if you want to listen — nick & norah’s infinite playlist soundtrack.

my shining moment occurred when i was the only one to realize that the guitar nick plays towards the end in the studio probably once belonged to jimi hendrix, because it was, according to nick, a left-handed guitar. but it wasn’t, as i could see by the scratchplate. right-handed guitar strung for a left-handed player? white stratocaster? has to be hendrix : )

(1) i totally rocked my christopher columbus lesson plan presentation this morning! i was really nervous because it’s my first time writing a lesson plan, and my first time “teaching” one. but i felt pretty at ease throughout the lesson, the same sort of feeling i have when i explain gym games or craft projects at work. for my overall grade on the lesson i got an A, which is really awesome.

and to top it all off, my professor talked to me afterwards and said my lesson plan was “exceptionally well-done.” he asked me where i went last year, i said that i wasn’t a transfer, and he was surprised. apparently other schools start working on lesson plans freshman year, so when they transfer here they are ahead in that area. he actually said my lesson plan was teacher- or student teacher-level. that’s fresh.

(2) i finally figured out the calc proof i’ve been working on since last monday! a two page long proof, finished a half an hour before i had to leave for class. man, that was one glorious proof, once i figured it out.

(3) the chuck season premiere was tonight! for my and your reference, my shows for this year are as follows: the office, 30 rock, pushing daisies, house, bones, ncis, and chuck. so the only premieres i have left are pushing daisies on wednesday and 30 rock on october 30th. six hours of tv a week. phew!

(4) i think i’m going to spend tomorrow afternoon tagging my pre-wordpress and textpattern posts. but there are 781 of said posts, so it may take a few days. wish me luck!

the CAKE concert was last night! oh man, i think it was one of the best shows i’ve been to, ever. they are SO amazing live! like, maybe ever better than on their records. plus they’re in the “big five,” which is just my top five bands in no specific order (they might be giants, mc lars, atom and his package, the aquabats, and cake).

i went with liz, curls, and alexa. and guess who we saw there? torch! from pinewood! with the four of us there, it was a mini pinewood reunion : )

they played some of my favorites, and of course closed with the best of the best — short skirt / long jacket! highlights included comfort eagle (”he is calling you DUDE!”), the distance, wheels, comanche, stickshifts and safetybelts, frank sinatra, guitar, love you madly, arco arena, and never there. jeez, now that i think about it, every single song was amazing.

just one today. my dad and i tried for three, but one’s coordinates were too off to find it, and the other one was at the bottom of the quarry, which is a bit too exciting for us.

so yes, today was a good day, because i did not fall in a gorge.

although it was a very pretty gorge. some may say it was a gorgeous gorge. oh my, i am very sorry about that.

i wasn’t sure if i should laugh or cry, so i played it off like i didn’t notice. looking back on that, i probably should have at least looked a bit concerned, since the squirrel did grunt upon impact and all.
